Abstract: A computer network has a plurality of routers that deliver data packets to the network via a plurality of links. At least one router provides automatic protection switching in the event of a link failure. The at least one router includes a plurality of data interfaces for streams of data packets to enter and exit the at least one router; and a backup controller. The backup controller includes a backup path manager, a link monitor, and a backup packet processor. For at least one link of the routing node, the backup path manager identifies a backup routing path for forwarding affected data packets in the event of a failure of the at least one link. The link monitor monitors the plurality of links to determine when a link fails. When a link which has a backup routing path fails, the backup packet processor attaches backup routing path instructions to affected data packets routed over the failed link, and forwards the affected data packets via the backup routing path.

Abstract: An athermalized optical fiber component assembly including a limiting member, a mounting structure attached to the limiting member, a temperature compensating substrate attached to the mounting structure, and an optical fiber component mounted on the temperature compensating substrate. The movement of the temperature compensating substrate as a function of temperature is constrained by the limiting member. Also, a method for manufacturing an athermalized optical fiber component assembly.

Abstract: A monoclonal antibody which forms an immunological complex with a phosphorylated epitope of an antigen belonging to human abnormally phosphorylated tau protein. The tau protein can be obtained from a brain homogenate, itslf isolated from the cerebral cortex of a patient having Alzheimer's disease. Further, a method of detecting the tau protein is claimed.

Abstract: A system and method for generating a masking noise level and spectrum automatically adjusted to obtain a target masking noise spectrum in a room. The system comprises a white noise generator and a mask filter automatically determined according to a correction of an acoustical response of the room and to the target masking noise corrected by an ambient noise.

Abstract: A dispensing head which can be mounted on a receptacle. The dispensing head includes a pump, for surmounting the receptacle, with an actuating rod having a longitudinal axis X. A diffuser is mounted on the pump, and includes a tube opening at a dispensing orifice, with the tube being elongated along an axis Y distinct from the axis X. A lever arm controls the actuation of the pump, with the lever arm including a portion capable of coming to bear on the diffuser in order to actuate the pump. In addition, a locking member is configured such that, in a first position, the locking member allows actuation of the pump and, in a second position, the locking member prevents actuation of the pump. In a disclosed example, in the second position the tube abuts against a portion of the locking member to prevent actuation of the pump.

Abstract: Topically applicable pharmaceutical gel, cream, lotion, solution or ointment compositions contain synergistically effective amounts of a) calcitriol and b) clobetasol propionate, formulated into a topically applicable, pharmaceutically acceptable medium therefor, and are useful for the treatment of such dermatological afflictions or conditions as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Abstract: A snowplow assembly comprises a lift frame and A-frame operably pivotally connected together and an actuator operably connected between the lift frame and A-frame for effecting relative pivotal movement between the lift frame and A-frame. A plow blade includes a blade frame. The blade frame includes a tube of circular cross section which is operably pivotally connected to the A-frame. The tube is pivotally received by a quadrant, which is operably connected to the A-frame. A resilient element is operable between the blade frame and A-frame normally biasing a lower edge of the plow blade forwardly. The resilient element is an elastomeric loop. The pivotal connection of the plow blade to the A-frame in combination with the resilient element provides a trip function of the plow blade. The plow blade is a composite. The circular tube of the blade frame provides torsional stiffness to the composite blade.

Abstract: A device for packaging and dispensing, under pressure, a product is provided. The device can be particularly advantageous for cosmetic products and includes a container containing the product to be dispensed under pressure, a propellant in the form of a liquefied gas having a gaseous phase and a liquid phase, and at least one retaining member able to trap the liquid phase of the propellant. The retaining member includes at least one portion that is permeable to the gaseous phase of the propellant. A valve is associated with the container and includes a body that includes a first passage able, when the device is in a first position, to cause the product contained in the container to enter the valve body when the valve is actuated, and a second passage able, when the device is in the first position, to cause the propellant contained in gaseous form in the container to enter the valve body when the valve is actuated.

Abstract: A manufacturing method is utilized in lithographic projection apparatus in order to enable all aberrations to be compensated for but with those aberrations that are of most significance to the particular application (the particular pattern, illumination mode, etc.) being given precedence over aberrations that are of lesser significance in relation to that particular application. The method uses a substrate having a target portion for receiving an image, a mask for applying a pattern in accordance with a required patterning application, and a projection system to project a selected beam of radiation onto the mask to produce a specific required patterned beam providing an image of the pattern on the target portion.

Abstract: A detector for zero crossings determines the zero crossings in the received signal or in an intermediate frequency signal which is generated from the received signal. Since, in the case of frequency-modulated signals, the number of zero crossings per symbol interval is naturally not constant, the zero crossing sequence is mapped to a sequence {zi} of parameter values zi which are at equidistant time intervals by means of mathematical, non-linear mapping. Mean value formation of zero crossing intervals or determination of the number of zero crossings can be used for mapping. The sequence of parameter values zi at equidistant time intervals can be supplied to a conventional detection algorithm such as a Viterbi detection algorithm.

Abstract: The present invention provides an array of pixels, each pixel comprising: a pixel element, a pixel refresh circuit, a first memory element and a first switch element. Each pixel element comprises a first pixel electrode for individual control of the pixel element and a second pixel electrode, the second pixel electrode linking substantially all pixel elements in the array and being connected to a common counter-electrode. The first and second pixel electrode form a first capacitor. The pixel element has a threshold voltage and a modulation voltage. Abstract: Aggregator devices and methods are disclosed for establishing device interaction in an environment containing other electronic devices and the aggregator device. The aggregator device has a transmitter, receiver, memory storing interaction rules, and a processor for implementing the interaction rules in association with the transmitter, receiver, and other devices of the environment. The methods involve transmitting a message to the aggregator from a first device, referencing rules of device interaction for the environment, and then according to the rules of device interaction, transmitting a message from the aggregator to a second device. The rules of device interaction may include instructions that are to be transmitted from the aggregator in response to the aggregator receiving change of state messages from devices of the environment.

Abstract: The present invention features a system and method for establishing a secure communication channel between a client and an application server. In one embodiment, a ticket service generates a ticket having an identifier and a session key. A communications device obtains the ticket from the ticket service and transmits the ticket to a client over a secure communication channel. The client transmits the identifier of the ticket to an application server over an application communication channel. The application server then obtains a copy of the session key of the ticket from the ticket service. Communications exchanged between the client and the application server over the application communication channel are then encrypted using the session key to establish the application communication channel as a secure communication channel.

Abstract: A demodulator has a resistor and a capacitor that may be subject to tolerances. For tolerance correction, the FM demodulator is preferably supplied with a reference frequency, which corresponds to the nominal mid-frequency of the demodulator, which is a function of the resistor and the capacitor. Any discrepancy between the actual mid-frequency of the demodulator and its nominal mid-frequency leads to the production of a voltage that differs from a nominal voltage at the output. A detector detects this error and adjusts the values of the resistor or capacitor until the error between the nominal voltage and the voltage is zero or is a minimum. The described principle can be used, for example, in integrated mobile radio receivers.
