    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device may communicate with a wireless base station (BS). Each antenna in a phased antenna array on the UE may receive a reference signal transmitted by the BS during the beam training interval. Transceiver circuitry may measure wireless performance metric data from the reference signal. While receiving the reference signal, control circuitry may selectively activate different individual antennas, may selectively activate different subsets of antennas, or may concurrently activate all of the antennas in the array. The control circuitry may identify, based on the wireless performance metric data, a first set of the antennas in the array to that are being blocked by an external object and a second set of antennas array that are not blocked. After the beam training interval, the transceiver may use the second set of antennas to convey wireless data with the BS while the first set of antennas are disabled.

    Abstract: A magnetic sole for a magnetic shoe provides improved grip on magnetic metal surfaces. The magnetic sole embeds a plurality of magnets and a corresponding plurality of paramagnets embedded within the resilient material that form the sole body, typically without air space between them and the resilient material, with the resilient material bonded directly to the outside surface of the body of the magnets. The paramagnets increase the magnetic flux through the magnetic metal surface, to provide flexibility, grip, and traction on magnetic metal surfaces, and anchors the magnets inside the sole. The resilient material of the sole allows contact and adhesion with the magnetic metal surface, holds all the interior elements of the sole in place, and adheres to the vamp. A magnetizable removable device can also be used to protect the magnetic sole when walking on the ground or surfaces that do not require magnetic grip.

    Abstract: This disclosure relates to a quantum circuit for quantum approximate optimisation over permutations of a set of elements. Encoding logic encodes each of the elements into multiple quantum registers as a binary number to represent a permutation of the set of elements by storing the binary number of each of the elements in an order according to the permutation. A network of multi-qubit quantum exponential swap operations operates between the multiple qubits of two registers and generates a superposition of two permutations by generating a superposition of two binary numbers by generating a superposition of the multiple qubits of the two quantum registers. An evaluation quantum circuit represents a problem Hamiltonian and distinguishes quantum states of the superposition generated by the network. The network and the evaluation quantum circuit amplify desirable quantum states and suppress undesirable quantum states to optimise over the permutations.
