  • Publication number: 20040163571
Abstract: A fire resistant wood door is formed from an opposing pair of rails interconnected by a upper and lower stiles forming an outer frame. A wood laminate core is provided within the outer frame and covered by outer sheathing. The wood laminate core is formed from first and second panels and a heat barrier layer. Each of the first and second panels is formed from an organic material and provided with a plurality of grooves on one surface. The heat barrier layer is in the form of a casting applied to the grooved surface of at least one, and preferably both, of the first and second panels. The panels are then joined together with the heat barrier layer sandwiched therebetween. When joined with the outer frame and sheathing, a wood door is formed having a fire rating of at least 45 minutes.

  • Patent number: 5554530
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing mycorrhizal fungal propagules in vitro in a two-compartment container having a gellified medium, which comprises the steps of: a) cultivating aseptically transformed dicotyledon root organs, capable of autonomous growth in vitro, in a first compartment containing a mineral minimal medium with sugar, wherein the medium is suitable for root growth; b) inoculating the transformed root organs with endomycorrhizal spores; and c) cultivating the inoculated transformed root organs for a time sufficient for the mycorrhizal fungi to transfer to a second root-free and root exudate-free compartment containing the mineral minimal medium of step a) and for the mass production of fungal propagules to occur in the second compartment.

  • Patent number: 5004754
Abstract: The invention relates to a biofungicidal composition characterized by its capacity to arrest the growth and/or destroy the cell wall of pathogenic fungi, comprises a composition of a compound of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of ##STR2## and R.sub.2 is --H or --OH and mixtures thereof in association with an inert carrier, and to a method for arresting the growth and/or destroying the cell wall of pathogenic fungi by applying thereto a biofungicidal amount of the composition of a compound of formula I in association with an inert carrier.

  • Patent number: 4977702
Abstract: A method for the production of edible mushrooms, particularly Pleurotus or Volvaria, wherein the inoculum or spawn is in liquid suspension and the substrate is packed before pasteurization. The substrate contained in a specially adapted plastic bag which is no more handled during the following steps: pasteurization, inoculation. The bag is a specially adapted plastic bag which is provided with a number of gas exchange surfaces or membranes which are impervious to outside microorganisms thereby avoiding contamination of the nutrient substrate by outside microorganisms. Inoculation can be performed by injection of the inoculum in suspension through the plastic bag.
