  • Patent number: 12379116
Abstract: The embodiments provide a system and method for filtering out smoke and/or toxic gases/fumes from air in a building. The system integrates various smart devices with an HVAC system along with a controlling software application that can change the state of the smart devices, thereby controlling the types and quantities of air moving through the HVAC system at any time. In particular, the system can adjust the openings of one or more smart registers to control how much air passes in and out of the HVAC system over a given period of time. The system can also adjust the opening of a smart intake vent to control how much fresh (outside) air passes into the system over a given period of time. The system can also adjust the opening of a smart furnace valve that is disposed within the furnace.

  • Patent number: 12382652
Abstract: A transistor structure that includes multiple heterojunction layer sets, each generating a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG), such that the transistor structure has a stack of 2DEGs that may be used to conduct between source and drain. A terminal is provided proximate an uppermost 2DEG to control whether the uppermost 2DEG is continuous between a source contact and a source plug. A source plug connects the uppermost 2DEG with the next 2DEG, and a drain plug also connects the uppermost 2DEG with the next 2DEG. Thus, the gate terminal may control the flow of current in sub-surface 2DEGs between the source and drain.

  • Patent number: 12378176
Abstract: A process for the preparing glycols from a lignocellulosic solid biomass involves contacting the biomass with an organic solvent comprising a low boiling point alcohol and a pre-treatment acid at a temperature in a range from 80 to 220° C. and a pressure in a range from 1 to 50 bara. The resulting mixture, having >20 wt. % water, is separated into a pre-treated solid residue comprising cellulose and a liquid stream comprising dissolved lignin and hemicellulose. The pre-treated solid residue is subjected to a hydrogenolysis reaction, generating a glycols stream, a lights stream, comprising a first portion of organic solvent, and a heavies stream. At least of part of the liquid stream is separated to produce a second portion of organic solvent and a solid residue of lignin and hemicellulose. At least part of the first and second portion of organic solvent is recycled to the contacting step.

  • Patent number: 12376861
Abstract: Devices and methods are described for occluding the left atrial appendage (LAA) to exclude the LAA from blood flow to prevent blood from clotting within the LAA and subsequently embolizing, particularly in patients with atrial fibrillation. An implant is delivered via transcatheter delivery into the LAA. The implant includes a conformable structure comprising a foam body and internal support. The support includes anchors that penetrate the foam body and anchor the implant to the walls of the LAA. The implant provides compliance such that it conforms to the native configuration of the LAA.
