  • Patent number: 12145166
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a rotary atomizer for applying a spray jet of a coating agent (e.g. paint) to a component (e.g. motor vehicle body component). The disclosure provides that the construction dimensions of the rotary atomizer are coordinated in such a way that the air pressure at the outlet opening of the paint nozzle during operation is lower than the air pressure in the nozzle chamber of the bell cup and in the external rinsing channels in order to prevent a backflow of the coating agent from the outlet opening of the paint nozzle backwards in the direction of the nozzle chamber due to the pressure difference.

  • Patent number: 12134126
Abstract: A strand guide device serves to deflect a freshly cast strand, typically made of metal, into the horizontal. During the deflection, the cast strand passes through a cooling chamber 1 inside the strand guide device 2, in which it is sprayed with a coolant 33, with the formation of steam 5. The steam forms at least a steam-air mixture 5? with sucked-in secondary air, which is sucked out of the cooling chamber by a suction device 20. In order to reduce the pollutant content of the sucked-in and sucked-off steam-air mixture 5? and its emission into the environment, pollutants, primarily dust, located in the steam-air mixture 5? are depleted by a separator 6, 6?.

  • Publication number: 20240351604
Abstract: A method for model-based predictive control (MPC) of a motor vehicle includes executing an MPC algorithm having a high level solver module, a longitudinal dynamics model, and a cost function dedicated to the high level solver module. By executing the high level solver module for an upcoming route segment while taking the longitudinal dynamics model into account, a speed trajectory is calculated that minimizes the cost function, according to which the motor vehicle is to travel within a prediction horizon. The method includes sending the speed trajectory to a human-machine interface as an input value, processing the speed trajectory to obtain a control signal in the human-machine interface, and outputting the control signal to a driver of the motor vehicle with the human-machine interface, such that the driver can control the motor vehicle in accordance with the control signal.

  • Publication number: 20240290574
Abstract: In the context of imaging with a scanning electron microscope, a sample to be imaged is first positioned in a vacuum chamber of the scanning electron microscope (SEM), such that an imaging field of the SEM arrives at a section of the sample to be imaged. Water is added to the vacuum chamber, such that the water is precipitated as an H2O layer on the sample in the region of the imaging field. The sample in the vacuum chamber is then cooled to a temperature below ?10° C. Then a sample cleaning operation is performed with the aid of at least one electron cleaning scan within a cleaning field within which the imaging field lies. The H2O layer is removed during the cleaning scan. Then the imaging field is imaged with the aid of an electron imaging scan after the at least one cleaning scan has ended. The result is an imaging method in which a sample surface of the sample to be imaged in the imaging of an imaging field is reliably clean.
