  • Publication number: 20230397035
Abstract: A method performed by a wireless device. The method is for handling uplink transmission to a network node. The wireless device determines, in inactive state, whether a size of a buffer of data for uplink transmission obtained in inactive state is smaller than a threshold. The wireless device then sends, to the network node, at least a first transmission comprising a first subset of the data, and an explicit or implicit indication of a number of remaining transmissions that are needed to send the remaining data. The sending of the first transmission is based on a result of the determining and is in inactive state. The wireless device also sends the remaining transmissions in inactive or in connected state based on one or more further indications. The one or more further indications are received from the network node or configured.

  • Publication number: 20230397019
Abstract: A method for relaxing Radio Resource Management (RRM) measurement is provided. The method comprises obtaining an indication for use in determining a stationary-mobility state of a user equipment (UE). The indication comprises one or more first criteria, which is based on a difference between a current signal level value and a reference signal value as compared to an adjusted threshold. The method further comprises determining whether a mobility state of the UE corresponds to the stationary-mobility state based on the indication. The UE in the stationary-mobility state has a lower mobility than the UE in a low-mobility state. In accordance with a determination that the mobility state of the UE corresponds to a stationary-mobility state, the method further comprises adjusting one or more measurements according to measurement rules associated with the stationary-mobility state. The adjustments reducing the amount of energy consumed when performing RRM measurement.

  • Publication number: 20230379905
Abstract: A method of controlling an indication of user data in a buffer of a User Equipment (UE) is provided. The user data is for Small Data Transmission (SDT) when the UE is in inactive mode. Based on a threshold value related to an amount of the user data for SDT, the UE determines whether to include an indication into a first uplink grant allocation transmission. The indication would indicate that user data is in the buffer. When an indication of user data in a buffer is not included in the first uplink grant, this indicates that the amount of data left in the buffer is less than the threshold value minus the first allocated grant transmission size, and when an indication of user data in a buffer is included, the indication indicates how many further transmissions are needed for transmitting the rest of the pending data.

  • Publication number: 20230371066
Abstract: A method performed by a user equipment (UE) for handling communication in a wireless communications network is described. The UE obtains an indication of a first size of a grant for a first type of data transmission and transmits an access request to a radio network node to perform data transmission of the first type of data transmission. Then the UE receives a grant from the radio network node. The grant indicates a size for granted data transmission, or comprises a type indication of type of data transmission of the granted data transmission. The UE compares the first size with the indicated size in the grant, or the first type of data transmission and the type of data transmission indicated by the type indication in the received grant and based on the comparison, determines whether to use the received grant for performing data transmissions or not.

  • Patent number: 11818761
Abstract: The load on Random Access channels (N)PRACH (i.e., Msg1) is temporally distributed, to better handle synchronized access peaks from machine type devices. Access attempts by wireless devices are distributed in time, based on their identities (e.g., IMSI, which is used for the distribution of paging load) or random draw. The distribution restricts when 5 wireless devices can access the network, either based on System Frame Number or on random access occurrence. The method is implicit, i.e., after the initial System Information (SI) acquisition, wireless devices will automatically apply temporal network access load distribution according to the configuration provided in SI without any need for explicit signaling or re-acquisition of SI. Embodiments of the invention may be advantageously applied to any wireless 10 communication network supporting machine type communications, such as GPRS/EGPRS/ECGSM-IoT and UMTS/HSPA, as well as non-3GPP radio access technologies such as LoRa, Sigfox, and Ingenu.

  • Publication number: 20230362787
Abstract: A method performed by an apparatus for handling a User Equipment access to a radio communications network is provided. The UE is using reduced capabilities. The reduced capabilities relate to reduced capabilities for communication in the radio communications network. The apparatus obtains information about a subscriber profile of the UE. When the UE accesses to the radio communications network using reduced capabilities, the apparatus determines whether or not the UE is authorized to access the radio communications network by using reduced capabilities, based on the obtained information about the subscriber profile of the UE.

  • Patent number: 11812476
Abstract: A base station transmits a resource grant indicating a plurality of options from which a wireless device is permitted to select for use in transmitting user data on an uplink during random access. Each respective option comprises a transport block size (TBS) and a number of repetitions. One of the TBSs is a maximum permitted TBS and the other TBSs are derived from the maximum permitted TBS using a predefined set of smaller TBS values. The number of repetitions of each option is determined as a function of the maximum permitted TBS and a corresponding number of repetitions. The wireless device receives the resource grant and transmits the user data on the uplink during random access to the base station according to at least one of the options. The base station receives the user data on the uplink during random access correspondingly.

  • Patent number: 11805545
Abstract: A network node is configured for transmitting a mobile-terminated early data transmission during a random-access procedure. The network node transmits a page having a contention-free preamble corresponding to an identity associated with a wireless device to be paged. The identity may be a Serving Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity, S-TMSI, or a resume identity that identifies a suspended Radio Resource Control, RRC, connection. The network node then receives, as part of the random-access procedure, a Msg1 transmission that includes the contention-free preamble. The network node next transmits, as part of the random-access procedure, a Msg2 transmission to the wireless device associated with the identity corresponding to the contention-free preamble. The Msg2 transmission includes a signaling message and downlink data.

  • Patent number: 11737040
Abstract: A method performed by a network node for establishing a connection for data transmission between the network node and the wireless device in a wireless communication network is provided. The network node establishes that the wireless device is fixed. Fixed comprises always being served by the same one or more access points. The network node obtains a Timing Advance (TA) for transmissions between the network node and the wireless device, based on the distance between the network node and the wireless device. The obtaining of the TA is performed without Uplink (UL) transmission. The network node sends an indication to the wireless device, which indication indicates the obtained TA. The network node then establishes a connection for data transmission between the network node and the wireless device based on the sent TA in Radio Resource Control, RRC, signaling.
