  • Patent number: 8931091
Abstract: A method for operating a tachograph having an application controller and a safety controller. A memory is associated with the application controller and a further memory is associated with the safety controller. An encrypted program code having at least one associated signature is made available to the safety controller. The encrypted program code is decrypted by means of the security controller and verified by the at least one signature. It is detected whether the decrypted program code (EPC) is intended for the application controller and/or for the security controller. Depending on what is detected, the program in the memory and/or the further program in the further memory is at least partially replaced by the decrypted program code and, depending on a result of the verification, the at least partially replaced program and/or the at least partially replaced further program is released for executing.

  • Patent number: 8590778
Abstract: Data obtained by a tachograph and stored in a memory of the tachograph in a first memory region in a predetermined first data format is processed according to a predetermined processing rule and is stored in a predetermined second data format, which differs from the predetermined first data format, in a second memory region. At least part of the data stored previously in the second memory region is read depending on an inquiry of an external reading unit in relation to the tachograph and is put out via a data interface of the tachograph while maintaining the predetermined second data format.

  • Patent number: 8538624
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting data via a transmission path between a tachograph arranged in a vehicle, and a data processing device which is remote from the vehicle. To improve data protection, the transmission takes place via a first path section of the transmission path, which path section is arranged between the tachograph and a communication controller arranged in the vehicle, and a second wireless path section of the transmission path, which path section is arranged between the communication controller and the data processing device. The tachograph in response to an encryption request signal sent from the data processing device to the tachograph encrypts data sent from the tachograph to the data processing device. The data is transmitted in encrypted form from the tachograph to the data processing device both via the first path section and via the second path section.

  • Patent number: 8305830
Abstract: A method for operating a volatile memory supplied with a supply signal arranged either as a first supply signal of a first supply signal source or a second supply signal of a second supply signal source. If an available first supply signal is present it is used otherwise the second supply signal is used. The supply signal is supplied, based on a switch position of a switching element to the volatile memory. During a detected interrupted first supply signal, the switch position of the switching element is for a predetermined period of time such that the supply signal is supplied to the volatile memory. After expiry of the predetermined period of time, the switch position of the switching element is predetermined such that the volatile memory is decoupled electrically from the supply signal.

  • Patent number: 7905394
Abstract: An assembly has a tachograph and a data memory, in particular a data memory of a data card. The tachograph has an interface designed to exchange data between the tachograph and the data memory, logic function modules and at least one memory. In a method for operating the tachograph, as a result of high security requirements, the data transfer between the data memory and the tachograph is extremely time-intensive. At the start of the data transfer a virtual reproduction of the data memory is created in the memory of the tachograph and the logic function modules first have read and write access to the virtual reproduction in the memory. Data is then regularly written to the data memory of the data card by a write access to the memory, thus eliminating the differences between the virtual reproduction and the data memory.

  • Publication number: 20090019387
Abstract: In a method for controlling a display (4) of a tachograph (DTCO) which can be connected to data memories (7) that are associated with defined groups, an ergonomic control of the complex functionality of a digital tachograph is provided while requiring little space. Individual groups are associated with defined functional groups or dialogs of the display (4) and the operational controls (3). The tachograph (DTCO) identifies the group the data memory (7) is associated with and then displays a selection of functional groups that can be selected by means of operational controls (3). The display (4) displays only functions and functional groups that are associated with the group of the data memory (7).

  • Publication number: 20080262674
Abstract: A data processing arrangement, in particular a tachograph for a motor vehicle has a control device and at least one memory. The traceability of an error arising during the data processing arrangement operation can be better guaranteed. At least one partial area of the memory is embodied in the form of a sequence memory and a control device is constructed such that sequences of the data processing arrangement or of the tachograph are recorded in the sequence memory, wherein the sequence memory is provided with at least one ring memory which is organised such that an oldest input is overwritten by a new input, respectively. Thus, it is made possible to record a plurality of sequential events leading to a substantial error in the sequence memory such that the size of the memory is increased within economically acceptable limits during a long operation of the arrangement.
