  • Publication number: 20080215892
Abstract: In a method for transferring data (D) between a first module (1) and a second module (2), data (D) can be transferred from a data memory (4) of the second module (2) to the first module (1) either in a secured or not secured manner. The time required for authentication (IV) is reduced by first transferring first data (D) in a not secured and then in a secured manner, wherein the data being used by means of a processor (CPU) of the first module (1) for a first process (III). The data (D) transferred in a not secured manner are compared with those transferred in a secured manner and if there is a difference, results from the first process (III) are discarded.

  • Publication number: 20070113071
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for secure data transmission, particularly between a tachograph (51) in a commercial vehicle and memory cards (50), where a first subscriber (T1) has a memory (6, 22) with entries (31-35) comprising identifiers (4) and security certificates (Cert) from second subscribers (T2). Methods for secure data transmission are becoming increasingly important and are frequently associated with a high level of computation complexity. For this reason, the object of the invention is to reduce the computation time for this without security losses. It is proposed that the first subscriber (T1) fetch an identifier (4) from the second subscriber (T2) and compare it with stored identifiers (4). If the identifier (4) matches, a security certificate (Cert) associated with this identifier (4) is the basis for a subsequent data transmission, and if the identifier (4) does not match then security certificate verification is performed.

  • Publication number: 20060257192
Abstract: The invention relates to a printer (2) and a method of controlling a printer (2) in order to print out a report relating to data recorded by a tachograph (1), the printer (2) having a supply (9) of printing medium (10) and being equipped with a medium transport device (15). In conventional printers (2), printing medium (10) jams occur frequently, since the latter bonds adhesively to a pressure roller (8), for example, under the action of temperature fluctuations and atmospheric humidity. Here, the invention provides a remedy in that, even without the presence of a print job (6), rest state transport of the printing medium (10) is carried out at periodically repeating intervals.

  • Patent number: 6991171
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to prevent the plate contacts of chip cards from wearing as a result of vibrations that occur during the operation of a vehicle. To achieve this, the spring contacts of the read/write set of contacts in a holding device for chipcards are separated from the plate contacts of a chip card that has been inserted into the holding device, for a period, during which no trip or driver-related data is transmitted and said contacts are closed for only a relatively short time, i.e. during the reading of the chip card data into the relevant data recording device and during the writing of recorded data to the chip card. The holding device is configured in such a way that the relevant chip card remains inaccessible when the contacts are separated.
