  • Patent number: 8611914
Abstract: According to a method for operating a radio communication system, a first radio station decides about the assignment of first radio resources to a user terminal and thereafter assigns the first radio resources to the user terminal. Before deciding about the assignment of the first radio resources to the user terminal, the first radio station transmits information to a second radio station regarding the first radio station's future assignment of the first radio resources. Radio stations carry out the method.

  • Publication number: 20110292799
Abstract: The present invention refers to handling of an overload in a communications network and to handling of handovers occurring after the handling of handovers in the communications net work, wherein said communications network is based upon a tree topology providing several levels of nodes in said communications network. According to the present invention, in formation about an overload is provided through several levels of nodes in communications network, starting from the node, with regard to which said overload has occurred, and ending with nodes being located in levels arranged upside the level, in which the overload occurred, and being connected directly or indirectly with the node, with regard to which said overload has occurred. When handling a handover from a cell in a node, which is affected by the overload, the handover will be allowed only if the cell comprises at least one node, which is also affected by the overload.

  • Patent number: 7693550
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the transmission of a global pilot signal from a base station of a radio communication system to a user station and a base station suitable for carrying out the above method. The base station comprises a number of antennae each with a characteristic pilot bit sequence. The global pilot signal is generated by overlaying the pilot bit sequences emitted from the several antennae of the base station, whereby the following method steps are carried out: a) division of the several antennae into a first group and a second group each with at least one antenna, b) transmission of the pilot bit sequences of the antennae of just the first group and c) modification of the compositions of the first and second group and return to step b).

  • Publication number: 20090239569
Abstract: A method for changing a downlink transmission power level can include receiving information about interference noise. When the interference noise satisfied a predefined level, the downlink transmission power level can be changed. Typically, the transmission power level can be decreased when the interference noise is above a predefined value. The transmission power level change can be coordinated (e.g. coordination in terms of power step size, in terms of frequency portion to which the power change is applied and in terms of time when to apply the transmission power change) with transmission power level changes in other cells. Also, interferences levels may be reassessed following the first transmission power change and the power levels are changes a second time. Optionally, only a portion of the transmission bandwidth is changed or only specific DL physical channels are considered.

  • Patent number: 7415249
Abstract: The present invention seeks to estimate a dedicated channel of the downlink transmission from a base station (BS) to a subscriber station (MS) in a mobile radio communications system with antenna diversity. To this end, the subscriber station (MS) calculates a first estimation of the dedicated channel from an estimation of a global channel (CPICH) while using a weighting vector (W, W?) used by the base station (BS) for the beam forming of the dedicated channel.

  • Patent number: 7142584
Abstract: A method for synchronizing a base station to a mobile station includes transmitting a signal sequence K(i) of length n from the base station to the mobile station. The signal sequence K(i) is formed by repeating a second signal sequence element K2(k) of length n2 n1 times. The second signal sequence is modulated with a first signal sequence element K1(j) of length n1. In the method, n1 is equal to n2 and i, j and k are integers.

  • Patent number: 7089039
Abstract: A method is provided for beam shaping in a radio communication system having subscriber stations and a base station, and an antenna device with a number of antenna elements that emit a downlink signal weighted with a coefficient of an actual weighting vector to a subscriber station, the actual weighting vector being updated via feedback information from the subscriber station. The subscriber station estimates the direction of a control vector in an M-dimensional vector space using measurements of the downlink signals, it detects a deviation of the estimated direction from the direction of a reference control vector and transmits information representative of the deviation to the base station. The base station then adapts the weighting vector using the representative information.
