    Abstract: A method for reconstructing a three-dimensional image dataset from two-dimensional projection images includes recording the projection images using a collimator downstream of an X-ray source. A local Laplace filter is initially applied to the projection data of the projection images during the reconstruction using filtered back-projection. After this, high-frequency spikes arising in the Laplace-filtered projection data at boundaries to the image region are removed by a spike filter, and a global residual filter is applied. A fit parameter describing a fit function approximating the projection data characteristic in the uncorrected projection images inside the image region is determined based on at least marginal values of the projection data present at the boundaries. Next, following on from the use of the residual filter, an additive correction of the residual-filtered projection data in the image region is performed with the fit function scaled by a scaling factor.

    Abstract: A method for reducing image artifacts caused, for example, by beam hardening includes acquiring at least two projections of a transirradiated object are acquired from different perspectives by an X-ray emitter and an X-ray detector defining a projection plane. A correction model that is linear in parameters and is valid for the at least two projections is determined. At least two epipolar lines corresponding to a common epipolar plane are identified in the projection planes of the at least two projections. The parameters of the correction model are determined by optimization, taking account of data terms that are independent of the parameters. The data terms quantify a consistency condition of the at least two projections that applies to the epipolar lines. Artifact-reduced image data is determined based on the determined parameters.

    Abstract: A method for adapting the brightness of an X-ray image is provided. The X-ray image is recorded using a filter attenuating X-ray radiation used for recording the X-ray image differently in at least two spatial filter regions. The method includes determining image regions mapping the filter regions from filter parameters and recording geometry parameters describing the filter regions from at least one evaluation line running perpendicular to a boundary between image regions. The method also includes determining, for each evaluation line, a correction value describing a difference in brightness between the image regions from an image value profile along the evaluation line in an evaluation area containing the boundary, determining at least one correction factor from the at least one correction value, and adapting the brightness between the at least two image regions by scaling the image values with the correction factor.

    Abstract: A tomography installation is configured to carry out a first scan along a first helix-segment-shaped trajectory section and to carry out a second scan along a second helix-segment-shaped trajectory section. A first data set is obtained during the first scan, and a second data set is obtained during the second scan. Taken by themselves in each case, both the first data set and the second data set are too incomplete for a reconstruction of a volume image without a partial revolution artifact. From the two data sets, a fused three- or four-dimensional data set is generated that is sufficiently complete for a reconstruction of a volume image without a partial revolution artifact.
