Publication number: 20260125243Abstract: Even when designing drivetrains for elevator installations, an advantageous compromise between required resources and achievable technical (performance) data is desirable. Especially in the case of drivetrains with a belt drive, the shaft interacting with at least one belt at a driving zone requires structural optimization in order to be able to make use of improvement potential including with regard to further components of the drivetrain. According to the disclosure, the shaft has an absolute shaft length which is predefined by length dimensioning with reference to the width of the driving zone. In this way, a particularly advantageous compromise on the basis of length dependency and optionally in addition also of diameter dependency can be found, in particular in terms of optimization concerning both the material-machining outlay and smallest possible dimensions, wherein the respective drivetrain, on the basis thereof, can also be designed for different applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2023Publication date: May 7, 2026Inventors: Alexander Wölfel, Andreas Wilhelm, Florian Otto, Aleksandr Gentner

Publication number: 20260109577Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a drivetrain arrangement for a drive unit of an elevator system. The drive unit includes at least one belt drive, with a shaft mounted in a housing in a fixed bearing and in a movable bearing. The fixed bearing can be/become secured in an axially fixed manner on the shaft without a bearing cover in several circumferential positions in each case via at least one disc interacting with the housing. A reservoir is configured between the bearings and a brake unit to receive bearing grease. An inner diameter of the fixed bearing is smaller than or greater than an inner diameter of the movable bearing such that in the axial assembly direction, the bearing with the larger inner diameter can be brought over the shaft portion intended for the bearing with the smaller inner diameter. This simplifies the assembly and implementation of the drive.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2023Publication date: April 23, 2026Inventors: Andreas Wilhelm, Aleksandr Gentner, Andreas Frank, Christian Friedrich, Alexander Wölfel, Florian Otto

System and method for increasing operating efficiency of a powertrain by controlling an aero shutter
Patent number: 8443921Abstract: A method of increasing operating efficiency of a powertrain includes unrestricting a grille opening by fully opening a shutter at or below a first predetermined vehicle speed, and turning a fan off. The method also includes unrestricting the grille opening by fully opening the shutter above the first predetermined vehicle speed and at or below a second predetermined vehicle speed under a high powertrain cooling load, and turning the fan on. The method additionally includes partially restricting the grille opening above the second predetermined vehicle speed via an intermediate position of the shutter, and turning the fan off. A specific size of the fan together with the selected positions for the shutter at the respective vehicle speeds provides sufficient airflow through the grille opening to cool the powertrain, and provides increased powertrain operating efficiency. A system for increasing operating efficiency of a powertrain and a vehicle are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2010Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLCInventors: Scott P. Publication number: 20130081888Abstract: A method of establishing a baseline airflow opening into an under-hood compartment of a vehicle configured to house a powertrain includes providing a fascia for the under-hood compartment. The fascia includes a first grille opening and a second grille opening configured to admit first and second portions of ambient airflow, respectively, into the under-hood compartment. A selectable position shutter assembly is disposed in the second grille opening and configured to control a size of the second grille opening. The baseline airflow opening into the under-hood compartment is the sum of the size of the first grille opening and the minimum size of the second grille opening. The method also includes ascertaining a configuration of the powertrain and setting the minimum size of the second grille opening in response to the ascertained configuration of the powertrain to establish the baseline airflow opening. A system employing the method is also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2011Publication date: April 4, 2013Applicant: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventors: Scott P.
