The method comprising the steps of: exposing an image sensor to radiation from a first part of the electromagnetic spectrum using a first aperture and to radiation from a second part of the spectrum using a second aperture having a different size than the first aperture; and, forming an image on the basis of first image data generated by the radiation from the first part of the spectrum and second image data generated by radiation from the second part of the spectrum.

Abstract: In a method for operating a conditional access system for broadcast applications, which conditional access system comprising a number of subscribers, each subscriber having a terminal including a conditional access module (11) and a secure device (12) for storing entitlements, each entitlement indicating a service for which the subscriber receiving the entitlement is entitled to watch, entitlement management messages (EMM's) are sent to a secure device or group of secure devices. These EMM's each provide an entitlement and a corresponding expiry date, wherein the entitlements are refreshed periodically in accordance with their expiry dates by sending EMM's updating the expiry dates.

Abstract: There is described a challenge-response method for a client device. The method comprises steps of: (a) receiving challenge data, wherein the challenge data is content encrypted using an encryption key, the content including a nonce; (b) using a secured module of the client device to access the content by decrypting the challenge data using a decryption key of the secured module, the decryption key corresponding to the encryption key; (c) processing a version of the content output by the secured module so as to obtain the nonce; and (d) providing the nonce as a response. There is also described a client device for implementing the above challenge-response method. There is also described a computer program which, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to carry out the above challenge-response method. Finally, there is described a computer readable medium storing the above-mentioned computer program.

Abstract: A method and a system for processing multi-aperture image data are described, wherein the method comprises: capturing image data associated with one or more objects by simultaneously exposing an image sensor in an imaging system to spectral energy associated with at least a first part of the electromagnetic spectrum using at least a first aperture and to spectral energy associated with at least a second part of the electromagnetic spectrum using at least a second and third aperture; generating first image data associated with said first part of the electromagnetic spectrum and second image data associated with said second part of the electromagnetic spectrum; and, generating depth information associated with said captured image on the basis displacement information in said second image data, preferably on the basis of displacement information in an auto-correlation function of the high-frequency image data associated with said second image data.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for a gesture-based user interface and a gesture-based user interface system are described. The method comprises receiving image data from a multi-aperture image sensor in said electronic device, said image sensor being configured to simultaneously expose an image sensor to at least a first part of the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum using a first aperture and at least a second part of the EM spectrum using one or more second apertures; determining sharpness information in at least one area of said image data associated with at least part of an object imaged by said first aperture and said one or more second apertures onto the image plane of said image sensor; generating depth information on the basis of at least part of said sharpness information; and, recognizing on the basis of said depth information, at least part of a gesture associated with a movement of said object.

Abstract: There is described a method of controlling access to IP streaming content by a plurality of receivers. The method comprises the steps of (a) for each receiver in the plurality of receivers, providing that receiver with access to first control information for that receiver to enable that receiver to access a first portion of the content; (b) identifying a receiver from the plurality of receivers as an identified receiver; (c) updating the first control information so as to provide updated control information for each receiver, the updated control information being associated with a second portion of the content; and (d) configuring each receiver to fetch the updated control information for that receiver. For the identified receiver, the updated control information is invalid such that the identified receiver is unable to fully access the second portion of the content. A server configured to carry out the method is also described.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide an improved method and an improved receiver for obtaining a control word. Two or more subkeys are obtained in a receiver. Each subkey was encrypted under control of a key received in an entitlement message or transformed under control of a seed received in an entitlement message. After decryption or transformation, the subkeys are combined to obtain the control word. Typically at least one of the entitlement messages is a positive entitlement message and at least one of the entitlement messages is a negative entitlement message. Embodiments of the invention can be used in a conditional access system such as a Pay-TV system.

Abstract: A secure and change-tolerant method for obtaining an identifier for a collection of assets associated with a computing environment. Each asset has an asset parameter and the computing environment has a fingerprint based on an original collection of assets and on a codeword generation algorithm on the original collection of assets. The method comprises: retrieving the asset parameters of the collection of assets and processing the retrieved asset parameters to obtain code symbols. An error-correction algorithm is applied to the code symbols to obtain the identifier. The method can be used in node-locking.

Abstract: The invention provides a system and a method for securely providing a secret data from a sender to one or more receivers. The receiver uses a sequence of functions originating from a hierarchy of functions to migrate the secret data from an input transform space to an output transform space using a mathematical transformation under control of one or more seeds. The seeds are provided to the receiver by the sender. The sender conditionally allows the receiver to obtain the secret data by controlling the seeds.

Abstract: A plurality of sets of primary product keys is established or generated, each set containing at least two different primary product keys. One primary product key of each set is made available to each receiver or group of receivers, such that each receiver or group of receivers is provided with a different combination of said primary product keys. For each set of primary product keys, the plurality of receivers or groups of receivers is provided with a different primary entitlement control message corresponding to each primary product key of said set, each such primary entitlement control message distributing a primary control word for recovery through decryption using the corresponding primary product key. The primary control words can then be used for purposes such as tracing compromise of the conditional access system, or arranging for differently fingerprinted content to be decoded at different receivers or groups of receivers.

Abstract: The invention provides a solution for secure and non-manipulatable processing of a data stream in a receiver, possibly in conjunction with a smartcard. A packet identity and a content type identifier associated with the packet identifier are received in encrypted form and securely processed within the receiver to allow an encrypted payload of the data stream to be processed without the possibility to manipulate the content type identifier in an attempt to intercept the payload after decryption.
