    Abstract: This invention is an apparatus that can be intermittently bottom moored and moved with buoyancy as it uses its sensors to collect data in deep ocean water. In one embodiment of the invention, the apparatus includes one or more floats, buoyancy engines, payload sensors, depth sensors and electronics. The electronics provide the power and, among other things, control the transmission of data from and the reception of information by the apparatus. An anchor is used to moor the apparatus at desired locations. When not moored, the apparatus drifts with the currents at the depth at which the apparatus is then positioned, with the movement being directed by current flow of the water. The movement of the apparatus is guided with knowledge of the currents and tides (it is not random).

Responsive to determining the one or more paragraph attributes, the plurality of lines are grouped into one or more paragraphs and an editable document is generated that contains text in paragraphs that corresponds to the one or more paragraphs.

A final element of a general embodiment of the system would preferably be a communication element that can transmit data about the positioning of the system, and other pertinent information, to a remote device.

    Abstract: A riser disconnect/reconnect system having a disconnection package (RDP) and a modified lower marine riser package (LMRP) are provided for quick disconnection of the marine drilling riser (MDR) from the LMRP to facilitate access to the LMRP or BOP stack. The RDP includes a flex joint and a hydraulically-actuated release connector (RC) with a connecting mandrel that engages a modified LMRP. In an emergency, the RDP is disconnected from the LMRP allowing access to the BOP stack for intervention. The RDP may be disconnected from the LMRP for recovery of the LMRP or BOP stack to the surface for repair or maintenance without recovering the MDR. The RC joins the flex joint to the uppermost annular blowout preventer in the LMRP. The release connector can be used in a standard or inverted position. Also provided are structural cages with complementary stab plates allowing access to various bypass ports and controls.
