Patent number: 10543669Abstract: An accessory unit includes a front flap and a rear cover. The rear cover includes a recessed portion that defines a chamber and a frame that extends about an opening of the chamber. The chamber is configured to receive a consumer electronic device, and the frame is configured to hold the consumer electronic device therein. For example, the frame may define a multi-sided cross-section with an inner edge thereof configured to engage a chamfered edge of the consumer electronic device. The front flap may include segments formed from panels with folding regions therebetween, which allow the front flap to fold. Further, an end region of the front flap hingedly couples the front flap to the rear cover, such that the front flap may be moved between open and closed configurations.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2016Date of Patent: January 28, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Santhana Balaji, Kevin Kenney, Andrew Lauder, Robert Michael Merritt, Michael Nashner, Samuel Gilkison Smith, Matthew Dean Rohrbach, Jared A. Patent number: 9562362Abstract: An array of resilient floor tiles is assembled into a continuous sheet after being laid down. An array of included, sacrificial resistive wires is buried along the edges of the tiles and is controllably heated in order to cause welding of the edges of tiles across the paths of the wires to neighboring tiles. Subsequently the wires may be used to give the array integral tensile strength. The welded array is provided with greater strength for resisting use, expansive and contractile forces caused by environmental heat and cold and also long-term tile contraction owing to loss of plasticizer as may be seen with PVC-based tiles.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2013Date of Patent: February 7, 2017Assignee: MATTA I LIMITEDInventors: Thomas James Sprott, Warren Andrew Lauder, Paul Harris, Adrian James Sprott

Publication number: 20150076146Abstract: A tray configured for packaging is provided. The tray may include a substantially planar portion and a curved perimeter portion extending from the substantially planar portion. One or more cutout portions may be defined in the substantially planar portion. The tray may also include a handle that may be grasped during insertion into, or removal from a rear cover of an accessory unit. In this regard, the substantially planar portion and the curved perimeter portion of the tray may support a recessed portion of the rear cover of the accessory unit when received therein. Thus, issues with respect to deformation of the recessed portion, which may be formed from a flexible material, may be avoided. The tray may he part of a packaging system that further includes a box and a lid.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2014Publication date: March 19, 2015Inventors: Santhana Krishnan BALAJI, Christopher J. Patent number: 8941990Abstract: A moveable device foot for an electronic device is described. The device foot can include a rigid weight bearing member and a flexible sealing member that is integrally formed with the weight bearing member. The device foot can be formed using a double-shot injection molding process. The weight bearing member of the foot can be mounted to an interior portion of the electronic device such that it extends through an external casing of the electronic device. The flexible sealing member can be mounted to the external casing to seal the interior of the electronic device. During operation of the electronic device, the device foot can be configured to move relative to the external casing, such as in response to an external force applied to the electronic device.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2012Date of Patent: January 27, 2015Inventors: Erik A.
