  • Publication number: 20140210164
Abstract: Two modified roulette wheels are used to generate a pair of cards for a card game. Players may wager on one or more outcomes selected from a group of predetermined outcomes including one of the wheels producing a winning card value, the wheels producing equal card values, one or more of the wheels producing a card value below a first predetermined value, and one or more of the wheels producing a card value above a second predetermined value. The wheels are spun to produce one or more game outcomes from the group of predetermined outcomes, and the wagers are settled.

  • Publication number: 20140203504
Abstract: A system and method is provided for delaying an outcome of a roulette game is disclosed. Accordingly, the system includes a roulette wheel and a glass cover attached to the roulette wheel, the glass cover configured to switch between a transparent state and an opaque state in response to electrical signals. Game circuitry is configured to operate a ball release mechanism to launch a ball around an inner circumference of the roulette wheel, and to send electrical signals to the glass cover while the ball is in to change the glass cover from the transparent state to the opaque state so that the ball cannot be viewed from outside the glass cover. After the ball has stopped, signals are sent to change the glass cover from the opaque state to the transparent state, so that the ball and the outcome of the game can be viewed.

  • Publication number: 20130281175
Abstract: A gaming station that includes a plurality of player gaming units is provided. Each player gaming unit may include a betting area on a surface of a trapdoor. Such a trapdoor may support one or more chips in the betting area when the trapdoor is closed. When the trapdoor opens, the chips fall into an internal chip collection area. The player gaming unit may further include an adjustable screen. When the screen is in the closed position, the screen serves to block a player at the player gaming unit from accessing the betting area. When the screen is in the open position, the player is allowed to access the betting area. The gaming station may further include a sliding float for holding a plurality of chips. Such a sliding float may be movable past the plurality of player stations.

  • Publication number: 20130232755
Abstract: A die case extractor and method for extracting a die case from a die bed. The die case extractor is engaged with the die case which is disposed in the die bed. The die case extractor is engaged by a pulling device, such as a ram. When the pulling device is retracted from the die bed, the die case extractor pulls on the die case, thereby extracting the die case from the die bed. Preferably, the die case extractor includes a bracing piece that is engaged with the die case. The die case extractor also preferably includes a member, such as a screw, which is engaged with the bracing piece. A holder is retained on the member and is engaged by the ram. The ram is then retracted generally away from the die bed, thereby pulling on the die case and extracting the die case from the die bed. Preferably, multiple die case extractors can be used simultaneously to extract a plurality of die cases in a single pulling action of the ram.

  • Patent number: 8408841
Abstract: Provided is a novel flow control system that includes multiple modifier columns for positioning across a waterway. Bottom ends of the columns are attached to a bottom track extension, for example, at the bottom of the waterway. The columns are sufficiently light so that the buoyancy force pushes their top ends towards the surface forming a “curtain-like” structure that provides resistance to the water flow. Spacing between the columns and other characteristics may be used to adjust this resistance. The columns may be repositioned along the track to change the spacing and/or to form an open pass. The columns are sufficiently robust and may swivel with respect to their bottom support such that their upper portions contact passing vessels. The system may be used to control flow through energy extracting devices or be a part of flood control systems.

  • Patent number: 8374272
Abstract: A communications system includes a base station that is configured to transmit a signal that is modulated according to a predetermined modulation scheme and an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing scheme, wherein the signal is encoded using space-frequency coding. The base station includes a plurality of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transceivers. The system includes a terminal that is configured to receive the modulated signal. The above arrangement is particularly applicable to providing multichannel multipoint distribution services (MMDS) over a radio communications system.

  • Patent number: 8332750
Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for resolving inter-page nodes in flow diagrams is presented. In one embodiment, an inter-page node in a flow diagram is identified. An inter-page node is a node laid out on a page break in a multi-page flow diagram. A set of candidate pages is formed. A bid for each page in a set of candidate pages is requested from each policy in a set of page break policies. A page is selected from the set of candidate pages based on bids received from the set of page break policies. A value of each bid indicates a level of suitability of each page in the set of candidate pages. The inter-page node located on the page break is moved to a new location on the selected page. The new location on the selected page is located off of all page breaks for the flow diagram.

  • Patent number: 7829345
Abstract: A method for detection of a peroxide-based compound includes directing ultraviolet light from an ultraviolet light source toward a location remote from the ultraviolet light source, where the ultraviolet light induces photodissociation of a peroxide-based compound located at the remote source into hydroxyl radicals and excitation of the hydroxyl radicals to fluoresce, capturing any fluorescence from the remote location that has been induced by the ultraviolet light directed from the ultraviolet light source toward the remote location, and analyzing the fluorescence that has been captured from the remote location to determine the presence of the peroxide-based compound at the remote location. A system for detection of a peroxide-based compound that performs such method steps is also described herein.

  • Patent number: 7760352
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing Raman spectrometry wherein a Raman spectroscopy system is mounted on a vehicle for on the move contaminant analysis. The system is configured to interrogate a target with a laser at a predetermined pulse repetition frequency (PRF), wherein during each PRF cycle, defined as 1/PRF, the laser is dual pulsed at a first wavelength and at a second wavelength. Raman spectra are collected and used to identify the target by matching a Raman signature with a given collected Raman spectra.

  • Patent number: 7760760
Abstract: A computer-implemented method comprises a plurality of operations. An operation is performed for creating an IP packet containing MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) packets therein and having a header including a value computed using a respective bit value of each one of the MPEG packets.
