  • Publication number: 20110266089
Abstract: An acoustic reflector is described comprising a shell around a core, in which portions of the shell are capable of transmitting acoustic waves incident on the shell into the core to be focused and reflected from an area of the shell located opposite to the area of incidence of the acoustic waves to provide a reflected acoustic signal output from the reflector. Incident acoustic radiation will be differentially reflected depending on the portion of the reflector on which the incident acoustic radiation impinges.

  • Publication number: 20110042023
Abstract: The invention relates to improvements in methods of making sheets for security documents having edge or corner reinforcing watermarks (13, 18) and a surface applied feature (15) and a method of making a sheet from a fibrous substrate, said sheet has corners and edges joined at said corners. The method comprises the step of forming the substrate by depositing fibres on a support surface and forming at least one reinforcing watermark (13, 18) at a predetermined position in the substrate. The reinforcing watermark (13, 18) increases the stiffness of the sheet in the watermarked region and is a positive watermark formed by varying the grammage of fibres of the substrate to form at least two adjacent bars (13a, 18a) of increased grammage relative to the mean grammage of fibres in adjacent areas of the substrate. At least one raised region (17) is formed by increasing the grammage of fibres, which joins the adjacent bars within the at least one reinforcing watermark to form a smooth planar surface.

  • Publication number: 20110007864
Abstract: A system and method for micro computed tomography (CT) reconstruction of position scan data of planar objects, such as stacked integrated circuit chips and/or PCB, that automatically determines object orientation is disclosed for a preferred orientation of the reconstructed images. The object orientation of the sinogram of the scanning data is determined such that the reconstruction may be performed with any starting position. Additionally, planar object scan reconstructions with either a higher resolution in the thickness dimension without increasing the total computation resource or a faster processing speed under a given resolution in the thickness dimension may be achieved. The tilting angle with respect to the rotation axis may also be determined to perform a image rotation after a multi-slice reconstruction or cone-beam reconstruction.
