  • Patent number: 9020509
Abstract: A method and system are provided for dynamically changing Qrxlevmin and Sintrasearch values in a LTE network. An eNodeB sets the Qrxlevmin and Sintrasearch values for each mobile device. The Qrxlevmin value and Sintrasearch value are changed based on RF conditions and a velocity of the mobile device. A lower Qrxlevmin value coupled with a higher Sintrasearch value increases a search period to locate better performing neighboring cells and reduces the chance of handing down from the LTE network to a non-LTE network.

  • Patent number: 9002404
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for migrating from coaxial cable to hybrid cable base station installations with zero or partial down-time are provided. In embodiments, the method includes determining, based on operational measurement data, a sector associated with a base station having the least traffic. Each sector supported by two conduits feeding two coaxial cables to an antenna. A channel count associated with the determined sector is reduced so that all transmits fit on a single coaxial cable resulting in an unused conduit and an unused coaxial cable. A hybrid cable is installed and activated so that all traffic for the determined sector is moved to the hybrid cable. Additional hybrid cables are installed to replace unused coaxial cables until traffic for all sectors has been moved to hybrid cables, which frees half the conduits for other use.

  • Patent number: 8942755
Abstract: A method and system are provided for dynamically adjusting gain in a cell site. Network devices, such as an eNodeB, NodeB, base transceiver station, base station server, radio network controller, and base station controller can provide instructions directly or through remote radio heads to an amplification system to change the power distribution levels. The instructions are received over an AISG protocol and cause a mechanical motor in an amplification system to move a magnetic core in a solenoid causing a change in the electromagnetic field resulting in a change in an electrical current. The change in the electrical current causes a change in gain, thus, resulting in a change in the power distribution level in a cell.

  • Patent number: 8896497
Abstract: An antenna mount for mounting radio antennas on a communications tower is described. The antenna mount includes a ring structure that encircles the tower and includes a channel disposed about its outer perimeter. The channel is configured to receive a plurality of antenna carriages upon which antennas are mounted on a first end. A second end of the antenna carriage is disposed in the channel and is slideably movable along the length of the channel about the perimeter of the ring structure. The antenna is thus aimable in any desired azimuthal direction by moving the antenna along the ring structure. Bands for communication of data, power, control signaling, and propulsion of the antenna carriages about the ring structure are disposed in the channel. The ring structure may include a junction that allows reorientation of antennas with respect to one another.

  • Patent number: 8761759
Abstract: A method and medium are provided for changing operational parameters on a mobile device while the mobile device is roaming. The mobile device supplies data that indicates operational characteristics of the mobile device to a home network by sending a first short-message service (SMS) message to the home network. The mobile device is connected to a roaming network and thus, the first message is sent using the messaging services of the roaming network. The home network determines new operational parameters for the mobile device based on the data. The home network sends a second SMS message to the mobile device which delivered to the mobile device by the roaming network's messaging services. The mobile device receives the second SMS message at a designated control slot and changes stored operational parameters to the new operational parameters.

  • Patent number: 8737581
Abstract: Methods and products are described for facilitating a method of controlling participation in a teleconference call. One embodiment of the method includes connection to a teleconference call so that a user of a communications device is capable of participating in the call. Any real-time inbound audio and real-time outbound audio is recorded and stored. At some point during the call, a pause command is received that indicates a desire to suspend real-time participation in the teleconference call and that starts a pause process. One embodiment of the pause process includes continuing to record the real-time inbound audio but preventing it from being presented via the communications device until a resume request is received, preventing the real-time outbound audio from being sent to other call participants until a resume request is received, and enabling a resume option that allows the user to re-engage in real-time participation in the teleconference call.

  • Patent number: 8537784
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for increasing the rescan timer for a wireless communication device. In a particular embodiment, a method comprises determining locations of the wireless communication device and detecting performance conditions when the wireless communication device transitions between communicating with a home wireless network and a visited wireless network. The method further comprises correlating the performance conditions to the corresponding locations of the wireless communication device and processing the correlated performance conditions and corresponding locations to determine a geographic area having performance issues when transitioning between communicating with the home wireless network and the visited wireless network. If the wireless communication device communicates with the visited wireless network when in the geographic area, then the method provides increasing the home wireless network rescan timer.
