  • Publication number: 20110004721
Abstract: A method and system of controlling access to a programmable memory including: allowing code to be written to the programmable memory in a first access mode; preventing execution of the code stored in the programmable memory in the first access mode; verifying the integrity of the code stored in the programmable memory; if the integrity of the code stored in the programmable memory is verified, setting a second access mode, wherein in the second access mode, further code is prevented from being written to the programmable memory, and execution of the code stored in the programmable memory is allowed.

  • Publication number: 20090067810
Abstract: A method is provided to perform anti-aging techniques in an informational display. An informational display is located on the front bezel of a consumer recording device that displays information related to the content being recorded or played or the operation of the device. To increase the life of the display, displayed text is shifted within the display so that pixel use in the display is more evenly distributed with the pixels in the display. To determine the direction and shape of the shift, real-time calculations of pixel use are made or a simulator is used to compute the probable use of each pixel in the display over a certain period of time. Another anti-aging technique is to dim the display of information after a specified amount of time of display at normal brightness.

  • Publication number: 20080303341
Abstract: A valve for use in a pneumatic system of a truck-trailer having a source of air under pressure, a reservoir, at least one spring brake unit and a brake service line is provided. The valve comprises a housing, a pressure protection valve portion, a spring brake actuation valve portion and an anti-compounding valve portion. The housing has a supply passage in communication with the source of air under pressure. The pressure protection valve portion is operably disposed within a first chamber of the housing. The first chamber has an inlet in communication with the supply passage and an outlet in communication with the reservoir. The pressure protection valve portion is configured to selectively block the flow of pressurized air from the supply passage to the reservoir through the first chamber until a predetermined pressure is reached. The spring brake actuation valve portion is operably disposed within a second chamber of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20080222188
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and memory storing instruction that generate one or more playlists. In one aspect, a playlist is generated by calculating coincidences distances between pairs of items in a group and generating a playlist of plural of the items in the group responsive to the coincidence distances. In another aspect, two related playlists are generated, for example by using a same coincidence criteria for the playlists or by using mutual similarity criteria between the playlists.

  • Patent number: 7409888
Abstract: A cover for a vehicle parking brake control valve button including an elastomeric body and a plurality of elastic ridges. The body of the cover includes a rim and a recess designed to fit the contour of the control valve button. The ridges are designed to provide enough rigidity to support pressure applied thereto, and enough elasticity to absorb energy created by the actuation of the button. The absorption of the energy dampens the stinging sensation typically felt by the operator when actuating the parking brakes.

  • Publication number: 20070260664
Abstract: A computing method and circuit for computing a modular operation with at least one operand having a binary representation. Iteratively for each bit of this operand, doubling the value of an intermediate result stored in a first memory element by shifting the bits of the intermediate result towards the most significant bit and, while the most significant bit of the intermediate result is one, updating this intermediate result by subtracting a modulus stored in a second memory element.

  • Patent number: 7077481
Abstract: A combined spring brake modulating relay valve integrates the functions of a relay valve and a modulating valve. The housing includes a valve assembly movable in response to air pressure provided to selected ports in the housing. A relay piston selectively communicates with a control port and a primary brake circuit port. A modulating piston includes surfaces selectively pressurized by the primary brake circuit port and a secondary brake circuit port. This modulates the pressure from the delivery port to thereby selectively apply the associated spring brakes if a failure is detected at the primary brake circuit port. The exhaust member selectively controls communication between the supply and delivery ports as necessary.

  • Patent number: 6729696
Abstract: A braking system control requires that a first or service braking system be actuated before a second or parking braking system can be released to prevent unexpected movements. A sensor senses that the service brakes are engaged and controls a device to release the parking brakes. A latch ensures that the parking brakes remain released. For example, a piston and check valve form the sensor and latch. Service brake pressure works against the piston. Above a threshold level, service brake pressure drives the piston to open a valve that provides pressurized air to a parking brake release system. Once released, the check valve directs parking brake release pressure to the piston to keep the valve open.

  • Patent number: 6690589
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus that equally distributes current from a rectifier circuit to a plurality of power factor correction circuit units by equal current magnitudes and lower component count advantages of peak current sensing with the lower harmonic distortion advantages of average current sensing. The output of a single average current sensing correction circuit in a master controller is logically compared with the output of a peak current sensing circuit in each of a plurality of interleaved master and slave controller units to produce a difference signal used to operate the switch in the switch leg of each controller unit to reduce emi, harmonic distortion and increase power factor toward an in phase condition.
