  • Publication number: 20040026129
Abstract: The invention relates to a drive system, in particular a downhole drilling assembly (10). In the preferred embodiment, a bearing mechanism (14, 24) of the assembly (10) is isolated from a gear mechanism (20) of the assembly (10), to prevent failure of the bearing mechanism (14, 24) due to vibration and heat generated by the gear mechanism (20) in use. A lower bearing unit (24) of the bearing mechanism (24) is coupled to the gear mechanism (20) by a shock eliminating coupling assembly (22), which prevents the transmission of shock loads to the gear mechanism (20). Also, the gear mechanism (20) is coupled through a shock eliminating coupling assembly (18) to a turbine (16) and thus to an upper bearing unit (14). Sealing assemblies (60, 116) are provided for the gear mechanism (20) and the upper bearing unit (14) to prevent drilling fluid ingress and consequent damage. The assembly (10) may also carry a torsionally flexible drive shaft (46).

  • Patent number: 5853053
Abstract: The invention relates to stabilisation devices for down-hole drill motors and provides such a device comprising a tubular motor body portion (18) adapted for rotational movement on a selective basis to provide a steering capability, a motor shaft (16) passing through the body portion (18). A lower end portion of the shaft provides an end surface (20) for attachment of a tool (32) by a bit attachment means (28, 30) provided within a lower end of the shaft. The lower end of the shaft (16) has an external diameter less than the internal diameter of the motor body portion so as to be either completely or partially received within the body portion to enable the overhang distance between the operating faces of the bit and the stabiliser on the bearing housing to be as short as possible. Alternatively the end face (20) of the shaft may project slightly (.ltoreq.5 cm) from the end face (22) of the motor body portion (18).

  • Patent number: 5761558
Abstract: A photographic film cartridge manufactured with an expanded bar code signifying characteristics of the print or photo CD order to be made from the filmstrip image frames particular to the camera in which the filmstrip was exposed or a pre-paid promotion or the like and a photofinishing method and system for use therewith. Additional numbers added at the time of manufacture to the DX bar code on the film cartridge and film package carry information about a customer's photofinishing order to the photofinisher. The additional information is put can include promotions offered by the film manufacturer or can supply additional information about the order, such as exposure format (e.g. a panoramic single use camera, camera) or special printing requirements.

  • Patent number: 5535735
Abstract: An inhaler for simulating a cigarette and supplying oxygen to an individual. The inventive device includes a pressurized supply assembly for containing a pressurized gas such as oxygen. A valve assembly extends from the pressurized supply assembly for dispensing the pressurized gas through a mouthpiece in response to inhalation so as to simulate the operation of a cigarette.
