  • Publication number: 20240100550
Abstract: An air-cap nozzle 103b for discharging an atomising air jet 101b for atomising paint from a spray gun, the air cap nozzle comprising a tip surface having an atomizing air outlet 100b and a rim region 102b surrounding the outlet. The rim region 102b comprises a continuous serrated portion formed by a plurality of protrusions 104 that protrude axially outward from the rim region 100b of the tip surface. The protrusions 104 are separated by valleys 105 configured to permit entrainment of ambient air by the atomising air jet 101b, the entrained ambient air being drawn through the valleys. The permitted entrainment provides mixing between the entrained ambient air and the atomising air jet 101b.

  • Publication number: 20240075319
Abstract: An irradiation method and system for irradiating a target volume, the method comprising: providing thermal neutron absorbing nuclides (such as in the form of a high neutron cross-section agent) at the target volume; and producing neutrons by irradiating nuclei in or adjacent to the target volume with a beam of particles consisting of any one or more of protons, deuterons, tritons and heavy ions, thereby prompting production of the neutrons through non-elastic collisions between the atoms in the path of the beam (including the target) and the particles. The neutron absorbing nuclides absorb neutrons produced in the non-elastic collisions, thereby producing capture products or fragments that irradiate the target volume.

  • Publication number: 20240068427
Abstract: Systems and methods capable for use in the development of high-speed, shape-transitioning, inward-turning inlets for air-breathing hypersonic vehicles, and inlets formed thereby. The systems and methods preferably provide for designing high-speed inlets for air-breathing hypersonic vehicles, wherein unique solutions are defined in each osculating plane of the inlet. Such systems and methods optionally provide an optimization process for tuning the post throat-shock Mach number of the inlet, and/or designs a shock-capture surface using a parallel-streamlines methodology, and/or a double cowl-lip geometry to allow flow to spill overboard.

  • Patent number: 11887046
Abstract: A system may use sensor data from a facility to generate tentative values associated with an event, such as the identification of an item removed from a shelf of the facility. A confidence value associated with each of the tentative values may be less than a confidence threshold. In response, inquiry data seeking confirmation of a tentative value from an associate is generated and sent to one or more associates in the facility. Responses from the associates are collected to determine a selection of one of the tentative values. The selected tentative value is designated as output data for the system. Thereafter, the output data and the original sensor data are designated as training data, which can then be used to train or update machine learning systems. Subsequent use of the updated machine learning systems can yield more accurate results.
