  • Patent number: 7423799
Abstract: A method for increasing the resonant frequency of a torsional hinged device having a reduced attaching area between the torsional hinges and the supporting anchors. The resonant frequency is increased by adding a material over the reduced area to stiffen the connection between the torsional hinges and the support anchors.

  • Publication number: 20080091954
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for facilitating authentication and data/content integrity verification of printed documents underlying legal transactions and other documents requiring durability, including real estate and loan transactions, for example. A Unique Content Identifier parses the document one page (or other pre-determined segment) at a time. Each segment of the document is assigned a digit or group of digits, and each page or document segment can be provided with a single digit in the overall identifier. The entirety of digits associated with a document is aggregated into an authentication string. Upon receiving a request to process the document later, the present invention can authenticate and verify the integrity of the document by reading the presented document to obtain an authentication string, and then compare the new string with the previously stored string. Upon a successful match, the document is considered valid, authenticated and unaltered.

  • Patent number: 7250705
Abstract: A torsional hinged resonant device having an improved anchor support for providing inertia drive. The area by the anchors connecting the torsional hinges to the support member are thinned to have a reduced cross section. The reduced or thinned area increases flexibility such that less force is required to generate a desired angular rotation.

  • Publication number: 20070170611
Abstract: A method for starting up or stopping and restarting an underwater pelletizer is described. The method involves inducing partial freeze-off of the polymer melt in the holes of an internally insulated die plate to prevent polymer drool by passing full water flow across the face of the die plate. The method advantageously does not require using hot oil to heat the die plate or decreasing and/or increasing the heating provided to the die plate.

  • Publication number: 20070143439
Abstract: A system and method for tracking a user history, for presentation thereof within a browser display. An executable software construct operates at a client machine to trap object references, which are then transmitted to a server. The server analyzes the object references and organizes them into a display structure. The display structure is then displayed within the browser, including hyperlinks to allow the user to select a prior system state to which he seeks to return. Preferably, the software construct also manages objects associated with the object reference, for example cookies associated with URLs, in order to assure full definition of the desired state. The display structure may also be provided to browsers distinct from the originating browser.

  • Patent number: 7176066
Abstract: A silicon substrate is coated with one or more layers of resist. First and second circuit patterns are exposed in sequence, where the second pattern crosses the first pattern. The patterned resist layers are developed to open holes which extend down to the substrate only where the patterns cross over each other. These holes provide a mask suitable for implanting single phosphorous ions in the substrate, for a solid state quantum computer. Further development of the resist layers provides a mask for the deposition of nanoelectronic circuits, such as single electron transistors, aligned to the phosphorous ions.

  • Patent number: 7133061
Abstract: System and method for generating lines of data on a photosensitive medium for use with a display or a printing apparatus. The lines of data are generated by two or more modulated and parallel laser light beams onto a resonant pivoting torsional hinged mirror. The pivoting mirror sweeps the two modulated light beams back and forth across the photosensitive medium to provide bi-directional printing. Relative motion between the photosensitive medium and the plane of the sweeping light beam is provided by moving the photosensitive medium when used with a printing apparatus or by also orthogonally moving the sweeping plane of the light beams when used with a display device.

  • Publication number: 20060163767
Abstract: A method disclosed for producing polymer-based cantilevers for use in atomic force microscopy in a batch process. The method includes forming a mold in a mold material, for example PDMS, using a master cantilever, removing the master cantilever from the mold material to reveal a mold cavity, filling the mold cavity with plastic, for example polystyrene, to form a plastic cantilever in the mold, and removing the plastic cantilever from the mold, for example using adhesive tape or flexing the mold. At least one surface of the plastic cantilever can be coated with a reflective metal, such as gold. The plastic cantilever can be functionalized for use in magnetic force microscopy by attaching a probe tip formed of magnetic metal, for example a 10 ?m nickel sphere.

  • Patent number: 7034415
Abstract: A magnetic drive for providing pivotal motion to a functional surface, such as a mirror. The magnetic drive may be used to drive any torsional hinged device, but is particularly suitable for driving a torsional hinged mirror. According to a first embodiment, a dual axis functional surface uses a first pair of torsional hinges to provide primary movement to the functional surface and a second pair of torsional hinges provides movement orthogonal to the primary movement to allow positioning in two directions. The mass and movement of inertia of the functional surface is reduced by relocating permanent magnet sets to the axis of rotation. The reduced mass and movement of inertia results in a stiff robust hinge having a resonant frequency above about 120 Hz.

  • Patent number: 7010453
Abstract: A list of waveforms is received (the list being one that is to be driven to or received from a pin of a device under test). The list of waveforms is de-interleaved to form lists of non-interleaved waveforms. Each list of non-interleaved waveforms is then optimized by combining at least two of its entries. By way of example, the above method may be implemented by program code stored on a number of computer readable media, or by a circuit tester having program code for implementing same.
