  • Patent number: 8690891
Abstract: Apparatus, assemblies, and methods for capturing objects within a body are disclosed. A surgical snare device includes a steerable deflection portion with a steerable distal tip. An interface is linked to the steerable deflection portion to selectively manipulate the distal tip. A snare loop disposed at the distal tip can have a length that remains substantially constant as the distal tip is deflected and the snare loop moves in concert with the distal tip. The distal tip may deflect up to at least one-hundred eighty degrees, while the snare loop moves a corresponding amount. A method includes extending a snare through a body lumen and to a location near an object. The snare may have a loop that changes positions while maintaining the same length. The loop may be placed around an object and then used to retrieve the object from the body lumen.

  • Publication number: 20140080371
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lifted fin apparatus comprising one or more lifted fin elements with foiled tin components for a reduction of pressure and drag and an increase in surfboard lift as well as a method of achieving surfboard lift through, the use of said apparatus. Generally, the lifted fin apparatus comprises two or more lifted fin elements exhibiting a foil design on one or more of the fin surfaces. The individual fin elements may comprise a substantially vertical fin attached to a first edge of a base member and oriented at a substantially 90° angle in relation to the bottom surface of the surfboard or to the first edge of the base member. The fin elements may further comprise an angular fin mounted to a second edge of the base member at one end and the lower portion of the first, fin at the other end. In said embodiment, a bend or elbow is formed between a first fin component of angular fin and base member proximate the point of attachment at second edge of base member.

  • Patent number: 8058342
Abstract: Sealing compositions and application methods for sealing and protecting asphalt roof shingles or other porous roofing and construction materials are described for eliminating algae, mold and mildew, increasing granular adhesion, providing additional UV protection and significantly increasing the wind resistance of the roof or other construction material. The sealing composition includes an acrylic polymer that has been modified by a silicone surfactant to alter its wetting properties so as to promote wicking of the sealer under asphalt shingles and at open edges to prevent curling and water infiltration. The method of applying the sealing composition promotes uniform distribution of the product on the surface of installed roofs as well as enhances bonding between individual shingles by improved penetration on and between shingle layers to increase adhesion area.
