  • Publication number: 20260056112
Abstract: Detection of microplastics is accomplished using a combination of techniques. A position-detection technique such as crossed-polarization detection, autofluorescence detection, or photothermal infrared imaging is used to determine the locations of microplastics in a sample. Infrared absorption can be detected at those locations to characterize the microplastics. In this way the microplastic content can be located and characterized more quickly and accurately than using conventional techniques.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 22, 2025
    Publication date: February 26, 2026
Inventors: Craig Prater, Kevin Kjoller, Eoghan Dillon, Andrew Stuart

  • Patent number: 10387525
Abstract: A method and system for improving aggregated data sets through crowd sourcing. The method includes organizing a plurality of data sets into an aggregated data set, providing search access to at least a portion of the aggregated data set based upon a subscription level associated with a user, and returning results to the user. Organizing the plurality of data sets into an aggregated data set includes receiving data from a plurality of sources, parsing the data, translating the parsed data into its native format and content, tagging the parsed data with attributes detailing how the data is entered, wherein the attributes comprise geographic location information, and mapping the translated data into a plurality of database tables within the aggregated data set. The system includes various components for performing the method.

  • Publication number: 20060177799
Abstract: Methods, devices and systems treat non-stuttering speech and/or language related disorders by administering a delayed auditory feedback signal having a delay of under about 200 ms via a portable device. The DAF treatment may be delivered on a chronic basis. For certain disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, the delay is set to be under about 100 ms, and may be set to be even shorter such as about 50 ms or less. Certain methods treat cluttering (an abnormally fast speech rate) by exposing the individual to a DAF signal having a sufficient delay that automatically causes the individual to slow his or her speech rate.

  • Publication number: 20060173367
Abstract: Apparatus for determining the health or fitness, under an exercise load, of an animal such a horse comprises: a first sensor (incorporated in module (3) and having electrodes (5, 6)), positioned in blanket (1) under saddle (2a) of a horse, generating physiological data, e.g. breathing or heart rate, blood pressure or flow, temperature, etc; a second sensor, also incorporated in module (3), for generating position data, e.g. a GPS sensor having antenna (11). By using an algorithm, a fitness indicator such as velocity at a heart rate of 200 beats per minute (V-200) can then be derived using data from the sensors. Lameness, disease or poor physiological potential of the animal can thus be identified.
