  • Publication number: 20170119582
Abstract: A method of dilating a first Eustachian tube (ET) and a second ET of a patient using a dilation catheter includes directing the dilation catheter into the mouth of the patient and advancing the dilation catheter into a first ET on one side of the patient's head while a proximal portion of the dilation catheter is disposed in the mouth of the patient. The method further includes expanding the expandable member to thereby dilate the first ET. The method may further include repositioning the dilation catheter relative to a second ET on another side of the patient's head and advancing the dilation catheter into the second ET while a proximal portion of the dilation catheter is disposed in the mouth of the patient. The method may further include expanding the expandable member to thereby dilate the second ET.

  • Patent number: 9634003
Abstract: Methods for abutting two cells with different sized diffusion regions and the resulting devices are provided. Embodiments include abutting a first cell having first drain and source diffusion regions and a second cell having second drain and source diffusion regions, larger than the first diffusion regions, by: forming a dummy gate at a boundary between the two cells; forming a continuous drain diffusion region having an upper portion crossing the dummy gate and encompassing the entire first drain diffusion region and part of the second drain diffusion region and having a lower portion beginning over the dummy gate and encompassing a remainder of the second drain diffusion region; forming a continuous source diffusion region that is the mirror image of the continuous drain diffusion region; and forming a poly-cut mask over the dummy gate between, but separated from, the continuous drain and source diffusion regions.

  • Publication number: 20170086868
Abstract: A dilation system includes a balloon catheter and a puncturing assembly. The balloon catheter includes a shaft, a dilator coupled to a distal end of the shaft, and a lumen extending through the shaft and the dilator. The dilator is expandable from a collapsed state to an expanded state. The puncturing assembly includes at least one cutting member. The puncturing assembly is positionable within the lumen of the balloon catheter or along an exterior of the shaft when the puncturing assembly is in a first position. The puncturing assembly transitions to a second position to puncture the lumen of the balloon catheter and/or to puncture the dilator, to thereby drain fluid from the dilator.

  • Patent number: 8981929
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product determine when a user's mobile device has left a secured location, such as a house or office, without predefined site security settings being met, and responsively inform the user of any security anomalies. A predetermined distance threshold is compared with the distance between the mobile device, and the secured location. If the distance exceeds the threshold and a trigger event is detected, an alert is transmitted. An alert may also be sent when a mobile object to be secured is moved away from the user's mobile device by a distance that exceeds the predetermined distance threshold.

  • Patent number: 8749375
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product determine when a user's mobile device has left a secured physical site, such as a house or office, without predefined site security settings being met, and responsively inform the user of any security anomalies. A predetermined distance threshold is compared with the distance between the mobile device, and a secured site. If the distance exceeds the threshold and a trigger event is detected, an alert is transmitted. The alert may be transmitted via the internet, and may be formatted as a text message, a phone vibration, a popup alert, a ringtone, an audio recording, a synthesized voice message, an image, and a video. The alert may be delivered via a speaker in a vehicle or a mobile phone, and an alert format is selected according to whether these are in use.

  • Patent number: 8570358
Abstract: Automated wireless three-dimensional (3D) video conferencing is provided using a tunerless television device. A 3D video conference is automatically established with a wireless device capable of 3D video conferencing using a wireless communication interface of the tunerless television device. A first and a second two-dimensional (2D) video stream are received, using a camera interface module, from a first and a second video camera associated with the tunerless television device. A merged 3D video stream is created from the first 2D video stream and the second 2D video stream using a 3D video offload processing module operatively coupled to the camera interface module. The merged 3D video stream is sent to the wireless device using the wireless communication interface. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

  • Publication number: 20130274715
Abstract: A device and method for dilating a Eustachian tube of a patient is disclosed. The device includes a guide catheter and a balloon dilation catheter. The balloon dilation catheter has an actuator that prevents injury to the middle ear. The balloon dilation catheter is slidably coupled with the guide catheter through the guide catheter lumen and is fully inserted into the guide catheter lumen when the distal side of the actuator is adjacent to the proximal end of the guide catheter. The method involves advancing the guide catheter and balloon dilation catheter through a nasal passage of the patient to dilate a portion of the Eustachian tube.
