  • Patent number: 9131339
Abstract: A content item may be associated with criteria that are to be performed to unlock the content items. In response to a user action, a determination as to whether the user action satisfies the criteria may be made. In response to determining that a user satisfied the criteria, the content item may be unlocked with respect to that user, meaning that the content item may become available to that user, such as via a corresponding user device. If it is determined that the criteria is not satisfied, the content item will remain unavailable to the user. Either a service provider or a user may associate the criteria with the content item, which may include video content, audio content, textual content, or image content.

  • Patent number: 9112457
Abstract: A non-linear digital filtering process is provided whereby slew rate limitation-like phenomena in analog circuitry are compensated. Particularly, a reduction of the signal amplitude with respect to the theoretical size of the signal if linearity had held is avoided. A correct phase is re-established. Customized linear filtering, up-sampling, and down-sampling before and after the non-linear digital processing minimizes the creation of harmonics. The inventive system and method for non-linear processing has few parameters and it is not limited to a polynomial series. A dedicated calibration method is also provided to adapt the value of the parameter for a precise compensation of the right amount of slew rate limitation or other similar compression. Furthermore, a calibration method is shown to adjust existing DSP filtering to accomplish a precise desired filtering even when non-linear corrections may be arbitrarily large.

  • Publication number: 20150228638
Abstract: Diode circuit layout topologies and methods are disclosed that exhibit reduced lateral parasitic bipolar characteristics at lateral parasitic bipolar circuit emitter edges during ESD or other voltage events as compared to conventional circuit layout topologies. The disclosed diode circuit layout topologies may be implemented to recess parasitic emitter ends relative to surrounding well ties, for example, to reduce or substantially eliminate parasitic bipolar action at lateral emitter edges of the circuitry during ESD events so as to provide higher current threshold for device failure, allowing for smaller device area and/or improved ESD robustness for a given circuit device.

  • Publication number: 20150222675
Abstract: A system and method for generating a unified dynamic executable media playlist across connected endpoints for media play-out are disclosed. In one embodiment, endpoints are connected via a communication network. Each endpoint includes a media player and streamer module (MPSM). Further, a local media playlist is created, by the MPSM in each of the plurality of endpoints, using media residing in associated endpoints. Furthermore, the local media playlist is sent to one of the plurality of endpoints designated as a host by the MPSM in each of remaining endpoints. In addition, the unified dynamic executable media playlist is generated, by the MPSM in the host, by combining the received local media playlists and the local media playlist residing in the host. Also, the generated unified dynamic executable media playlist is sent, by the MPSM in the host, to each of the remaining endpoints for media play-out.

  • Publication number: 20150163665
Abstract: An access point that implements operating modes in which beacons may be selectively disabled. Beacons may be disabled when no device is actively associated through the access point. Beacons may be enabled in response to one or more triggers, which may include events such as a client forming an association through the access point following a probe request message identifying the access point. In addition, active beaconing may be triggered by user input or may occur during periodic brief intervals that allow client devices to discover the network identifier for the access point. Selective control of beaconing may lead to more effective wireless communication, particularly in areas where users congregate with computers implementing soft APs for personal networks.

  • Publication number: 20150134930
Abstract: Functionality is described herein for memory-mapping an information unit (such as a file) into virtual memory by associating shared virtual memory resources with the information unit. The functionality then allows processes (or other entities) to interact with the information unit via the shared virtual memory resources, as opposed to duplicating separate private instances of the virtual memory resources for each process that requests access to the information unit. The functionality also uses a single level of address translation to convert virtual addresses to corresponding physical addresses. In one implementation, the information unit is stored on a bulk-erase type block storage device, such as a flash storage device; here, the single level of address translation incorporates any address mappings identified by wear-leveling and/or garbage collection processing, eliminating the need for the storage device to perform separate and independent address mappings.
