  • Patent number: 11287151
Abstract: An example method for thermally preconditioning a meeting space includes determining that a meeting is electronically scheduled for a meeting space for a plurality of attendees. A thermal preconditioning setpoint for the meeting space is determined based on individual thermal preferences of the plurality of attendees, and a historical setpoint of the meeting space. A time required to achieve the thermal preconditioning setpoint is determined based on the thermal preconditioning setpoint and a temperature of the meeting space before the scheduled meeting. Thermal preconditioning of the meeting space is initiated based on the determined thermal preconditioning setpoint and the determined time.

  • Publication number: 20220091739
Abstract: A technique manages bandwidth allocated among input/output operations, such as reads and writes, to storage devices coupled to storage nodes of a cluster. The technique balances the writes in a manner that reduces latency of reads, while allowing the writes to complete in a desired amount of time. The writes include write types, such as client writes, data migration writes, block transfer writes, and recycling writes, which are defined by differing characteristics and relative priorities. To ensure timely completion of the write types, the technique provides periodic time intervals over which the writes may be balanced and allocated sufficient bandwidth to access the storage devices. The time intervals may include shuffle intervals within a larger distribution interval. In addition, the technique throttles certain write types at the storage device level to maintain consistent read performance. Throttling is based on a credit system that allocates bandwidth as “credits” based on write type.

  • Publication number: 20220093249
Abstract: In presence of high-cardinality treatment variables, number of counterfactual outcomes to be estimated is much larger than number of factual observations, rendering the problem to be ill-posed. Furthermore, lack of information regarding the confounders among large number of covariates pose challenges in handling confounding bias. Essential is to find lower-dimensional manifold where an equivalent problem of causal inference can be posed, and counterfactual outcomes can be computed.

  • Patent number: 11282277
Abstract: In implementations of systems for shading vector objects, a computing device implements a shading system which detects points along a boundary of a vector-based object. The shading system forms a two-dimensional mesh based on the detected points. The shading system generates a three-dimensional mesh by inflating the two-dimensional mesh based on a geometry of the vector-based object. Color values are applied to a shading mesh based on locations of vertices of the three-dimensional mesh. The shading system generates a shaded vector-based object by blending the vector-based object and the shading mesh.

  • Publication number: 20220083819
Abstract: Computing systems may support image classification and image detection services, and these services may utilize object detection/image classification machine learning models. The described techniques provide for normalization of confidence scores corresponding to manipulated target images and for non-max suppression within the range of confidence scores for manipulated images. In one example, the techniques provide for generating different scales of a test image, and the system performs normalization of confidence scores corresponding to each scaled image and non-max suppression per scaled image These techniques may be used to provide more accurate image detection (e.g., object detection and/or image classification) and may be used with models that are not trained on modified image sets. The model may be trained on a standard (e.g. non-manipulated) image set but used with manipulated target images and the described techniques to provide accurate object detection.

  • Publication number: 20220086237
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method detects a state of a first session between a first workload and a second workload. The first workload and the second workload send packets in the first session via a first path to maintain a state of the first session. When the state of the first session indicates the first workload is down, the method receives information for network metrics of network traffic being sent in the first path. The method determines when the second workload should transition from a standby mode to an active mode to take over as an active workload in an active/standby configuration between the first workload and the second workload based on the information for the network metrics.
