  • Publication number: 20180046363
Abstract: Digital content view control techniques are described. In one example, a virtual control is used to supplement navigation of digital content without movement of a user's head through use of an appendage such as a hand, finger, and so forth. In another example, a digital content view control technique is configured to reduce potential nausea when viewing the digital content. Techniques and systems are described that incorporate a threshold to control how the digital content is viewed in relation to an amount of movement to be experienced by the user in viewing the digital content. Based on this amount of movement, a determination is made through comparison to a threshold to control output of transitional viewpoints between the first and second viewpoints.

  • Publication number: 20180047137
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for correcting facial sentiment of digital images. Facial data captured in a target image is analyzed to obtain facial-based sentiment. A favored sentiment is determined based at least in part on the facial-based sentiment. The favored sentiment is then applied to at least one face included in the target image that doesn't reflect the favored sentiment. Analyzing facial data may include detecting facial landmarks that are good indicators of sentiment (e.g., eyes, mouth, eyebrows, jawline, and nose). Such landmarks can be processed, with supervised machine learning, to detect the corresponding facial sentiment. A favored sentiment of the target image is thus identified, and can be applied to one or more non-compliant faces in the target image. In some embodiments, the favored sentiment can be further based on a plurality of additional sentiment indicators, including geo data, text, and/or other images associated with the target image.

  • Publication number: 20180046879
Abstract: Salient video frame establishment is described. In one or more example embodiments, salient frames of a video are established based on multiple photos. An image processing module is capable of analyzing both video frames and photos, both of which may include entities, such as faces or objects. Frames of a video are decoded and analyzed in terms of attributes of the video. Attributes include, for example, scene boundaries, facial expressions, brightness levels, and focus levels. From the video frames, the image processing module determines candidate frames based on the attributes. The image processing module analyzes multiple photos to ascertain multiple relevant entities based on the presence of entities in the multiple photos. Relevancy of an entity can depend, for instance, on a number of occurrences. The image processing module establishes multiple salient frames from the candidate frames based on the multiple relevant entities. Salient frames can be displayed.

  • Publication number: 20170308552
Abstract: An image search is executed. The search results are presented as a collection of thumbnail images organized according to an initial ranking. As the user browses the thumbnail images, he/she encounters a thumbnail image of interest. Selecting this thumbnail causes an enlarged preview image to be displayed. The user can manipulate the enlarged preview image with panning and zooming operations, thereby enabling the user to more closely inspect portions of the preview image which attract the user's interest. These interactions with the search results, which include the initial selection of the thumbnail image and the subsequent manipulation of the enlarged preview image, provide insight into the user's interest. Once the user has interacted with a threshold quantity of search results, the collection of thumbnail images is filtered and reorganized to more prominently position those search results that correspond to the user's interest, as gleaned from analyzing the aforementioned user interactions.

  • Patent number: 9779529
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating multi-image content for online services using a single image. For example, a processor identifies publishing constraints specified for image categories in a profile of an online service. The processor generates a first image by applying a first publishing constraint to a copy of an input image and generates a second image by applying a second publishing constraint to a selected portion of the first image. The processor presents the first and second images in different preview interfaces. The processor applies manipulation effects to the second image that modify the second image independently of modifications to the first image. The manipulation effect is applied to the second in accordance with the second publishing constraint for the second image. The processor uploads the images with the applied manipulation effects to the online service for presentation in the different image categories.

  • Publication number: 20170270560
Abstract: Gauging consumer interest of in-person visitors is described. In one or more embodiments, a promotional apparatus having a display screen and a wireless beacon is deployed at a venue. The promotional apparatus presents a video having multiple video segments. During the presentation, the beacon and a mobile device of a venue visitor communicate wirelessly to determine a proximity of the visitor to the display screen. Multiple distances are determined at multiple times. A path of movement can be determined from the distances over time. If the visitor alters a direction of travel to veer toward the screen or stops walking close to the screen, a system infers that the video has engaged the visitor's attention. By linking particular video segments to times at which the mobile device is proximate to the display screen, the system can further infer consumer interest in specific product features being shown at those times.
