  • Publication number: 20070248986
Abstract: Methods for predicting the likelihood of development of rheumatoid arthritis for individuals that present with recent-onset undifferentiated arthritis. The methods are based on the determination of a set of clinical parameter values and determining a predicted risk for developing rheumatoid arthritis by correlating the parameter values with predefined risk values associated with ranges of parameter values. Parameters values that are decisive for the risk for developing rheumatoid arthritis may include serum levels of C-reactive protein, Rheumatoid factors, anti-CCP antibodies, as well as age, gender, localization of the joint complaints, length of morning stiffness, and number of tender and/or swollen joints. The method may be performed by a computer. • Patent number: 7282538
Abstract: The present invention belongs to the field of polymerization and processing of polymer and relates to the preparation of a kind of functional polyolefin master batch. The functional master batch is produced by liquid phase, melt phase, or solid phase reaction after mixing the polyolefin resin, polyamine and guanidine salt oligomer, olefin monomer and initiator. The molecular structure of functional polyolefin master batch is shown below: wherein R is a polyamine and guanidine salt oligomer bonded onto polyolefin molecular chain by covalence bond, while S is one selected from hydrogen, chlorine, methyl, or phenyl group. Blending mentioned functional master batch with the corresponding polyolefin, the various antimicrobe products, such as fibers, film, pipe and other plastic articles can be obtained. Besides endowing products with excellent permanent antimicrobe property, it also provides fibers with good-dyeable and antistatic ability and bumpers with easy-paintable ability.

  • Patent number: 7282576
Abstract: This invention relates to the AIB1 protein as a coactivator that potentiates the transcriptional activity of nuclear hormone receptors. The gene is amplified in a subset of human breast cancers. One splice variant of AIB1 transcribes a mRNA that lacks the exon 3 sequence. ?3-AIB1 mRNA encodes a 130 kDa protein that lacks the N-terminal basic helix-loop-helix and a portion of the PAS dimerization domain. This 130 kDa protein was detected in MCF-7 breast cancer cells at levels 5-10% of the full length protein, whereas in non transformed mammary epithelium lines the ?3-AIB1 protein is present at significantly lower levels compared to the full length AIB1. The abundance of ?3-AIB1 mRNA is increased in human breast cancer specimens relative to that in normal breast tissue. Functional reporter gene assays revealed that the ability of ?3-AIB1 to promote transcription mediated by the estrogen or progesterone receptors was significantly greater than that of the full-length protein.
