Abstract: A beverage container comprising a container body (10) with an opening (11) and closure means (12) to close the opening (11), the closure means comprising a first part (12A) for closing the opening (11) and a second part (12B) adapted to be connected to the first part (12A) so that the first and second parts (12A, 12B) are rotatable relative to each other between a first position in which they are held together and a second position in which the second part (12B) holds the first part (12A) in a sealing relationship with the container body (10).

Abstract: A beverage container for the storage of a carbonated drink comprising a container body (10) including an opening (11) and removable closure means (12) for closing the opening (11), the closure means comprising a foil (20) which provides a gas tight seal for the opening (11). The arrangement may be such that a tendency of forces acting on the foil (20) due to pressure within the container to separate the foil (20) from the container body (10) by peeling away therefrom is reduced e.g. by the provision of a collar (12A) to limit deflection of the foil (20) adjacent the bond therebetween and/or by the shape of the rim (15) of the container body (10), so the closure is capable of withstanding higher internal pressures than would otherwise be the case.

Abstract: A beverage container (1) comprises a container body (3) including an opening, a cap (5) to close the opening, and a collar (7), mountable on the container body (3). The cap (5) and the collar (7) include cooperating securement means (19, 21) by which the cap (5) may be secured to the collar (7), thereby securing the cap (5) to the container body (3) when the collar (7) is mounted on the container body (3). The cap (5), the collar (7) and the container body (3) are configured such that removal of the cap (5) from the container body (3) causes removal of the collar (7) from the container body (3).

Abstract: The apparatus comprises a base portion (2) and at least two arms (1) resiliently cantilevered from the base portion (2), the inner ends of the arms (1) forming a button-like member (4) and each having a projection (4A) for engaging on the outwardly facing surface of a compact disk (10) held on the apparatus. Depression of the button-like member (4) causes the projections (4A) to move towards each other until their engagement on the disk (10) is released. An upstand (6) surrounds the disk (10) and is positioned close thereto so as to restrict movement of the disk (10) within its own plane. The inner ends (4) of the arms (1) may be shaped to reduce the risk of forces applied thereto in the plane of the disk (10) causing the disk (10) to be released. Finger recesses (6A) in the upstand may be formed so as to inhibit access to the edge of a disk (10) whilst held by the apparatus but provide access thereto once the disk (10) has been released. 3-arm release mechanisms are also described.

Abstract: Apparatus (19) for holding information storage media, such as a CD or DVD, in combination with a releasable security member (8) insertable into the apparatus for inhibiting removal of the storage media from the apparatus, e.g. by inhibiting access to the storage media by locking the apparatus in a closed configuration and/or by locking the storage media to the apparatus. The apparatus is adapted, e.g. by knowing one or more slots (12, 24) therein, to receive part of the security member therein and the security has at least one projection (9A, 10A) for inserting into the apparatus, e.g. through the slot (12, 24). Modification t the apparatus to enable it to receive a security member are described as well as different types of security members. Apparatus for releasing the security member from the apparatus holding the storage media is also described.

Abstract: Apparatus for holding a disk-shape data carrier (6), e.g. a DC or a DVD, having a central aperture, the apparatus comprising a base portion (5), disk engaging means (1, 2, 4) for releaseably engaging the central aperture of the data carrier (6), having retaining means (1) for engaging and retaining the data carrier (6) on the apparatus and release means (2, 4) which, when pressed, releases the engagement of the retaining means (1) with the data carrier (6) so the data carrier (6) can be removed from the apparatus, wherein removable security means (7) are provided to inhibit actuation of the release means (2, 4) to prevent release of the data carrier (6).

Abstract: A single-use scalpel blade remover (1) removes a blade (33) from a tang (32) of a scalpel (30) and captures it, in a single-handed operation. The remover (1) comprises a housing (2) having a detent (16), and an actuator (3) which is operatively juxtaposed with the housing (2) and moveable alongside the housing in a forward direction from a proximal position (whereat an opening is formed between the proximal ends of the actuator and the housing) to a distal position (whereat the detent (16) engages the proximal end of the actuator). The blade remover (1) also includes a cam-operated mechanism (14, 23, 20) for automatically separating the heel of the blade (33) from the tang (32) as the actuator (3) is moved to the distal position.

Abstract: A container such as a CD or DVD box with a body portion having two sections (1, 2) connected to each other by a hinge portion (3) and an information display member or label (4) which includes an information layer formed as a part of the member (4) is secured by an adhesive or welded bond to one section (1) of the body portion. The information display member (4) extends across the hinge portion (3), with at least the majority thereof being unsecured to the hinge portion (3). and is secured by an adhesive or welded bond to the second section (2) of the body portion.

Abstract: The apparatus comprises: a base portion (1); inwardly extending radial arms (2) resiliently cantilevered from the base portion (1); disk-engaging means (3) at the inner ends of the arms (2) for releasably engaging the central hole of a disk (11) and supporting the center of the disk (11) away from the base portion (1). Each arm (2) has first pivot means (9) in the region where the arm (2) joins the base portion (1) and second pivot means (10) radially inward thereof. Depression of the disk-engaging means (3) towards the base portion (1) causes the inner ends of the arms (2) and the center of the disk (11), to be depressed towards the base portion (1), the arms (2) initially pivoting about the first pivot means (9) and subsequently pivoting about the second pivot means (10) until retention of the disk (11) by the disk-engaging means (3) is released. This enables the thickness of the apparatus to be reduced, e.g. to 4 mm or less.

Abstract: A container (1) comprises a container body comprising first and second parts (3, 5) which may be brought together to close container and separated to open the container, and a retaining device (11) comprising a retaining member (13) and a release member (15), wherein the retaining member is securable in a retaining position in which it retains the first and second parts (3, 5) of the container body together and thereby contains the container closed, the retaining member (13) being manually disengageable from its retaining position by movement of the release member (15) with respect to the retaining member (13). The container is particularly suitable for containing one or more packs of pharmaceutical tablets.
