  • Publication number: 20040045845
Abstract: A container such as a CD or DVD box with a body portion having two sections (1, 2) connected to each other by a hinge portion (3) and an information display member or label (4) which includes an information layer formed as part of the member (4) is secured by an adhesive or welded bond to one section (1) of the body portion. The information display member (4) extends across the hinge portion (3), with at least the majority thereof being unsecured to the hinge portion (3), and is secured by an adhesive or welded bond to the second section (2) of the body portion.

  • Publication number: 20030150753
Abstract: The enclosure comprises: a base portion; retaining means provided on the base portion for releasably holding a data carrier such as a CD within the enclosure; and a closure member, e.g. a plastic sheet, attached to the base portion so as to prevent removal of the CD from the enclosure, an irreversibly breakable join, e.g. a heat weld, being provided between the closure member and the base portion which, when broken, enables the closure member to be opened to allow the CD to be removed from the enclosure. The closure member may be removed entirely or may be hinged to the base portion so it is retained for use as a lid.

  • Publication number: 20030075461
Abstract: A carrier for a compact disc comprising a generally planar, substantially rigid member [(26)] adapted to retain a compact disc [(14)] adjacent a front face of the member and having an openable cover [(24)] with a first part secured to a rear face of the member [(26)] and a second part extending around a spine edge of the member [(26)] and over the front face of the member [(26)] for removably covering the compact disc [(14)], the member [(26)] having lips [(16,18)] beneath which an edge of the second part of the cover [(24)] can be retained to hold the cover [(24)] in a closed position.

  • Publication number: 20030052024
Abstract: The apparatus comprises: a base portion (1); inwardly extending radial arms (2) resiliently cantilevered from the base portion (1); disk-engaging means (3) at the inner ends of the arms (2) for releasably engaging the central hole of a disk (11) and supporting the center of the disk (11) away from the base portion (1). Each arm (2) has first pivot means (9) in the region where the arm (2) joins the base portion (1) and second pivot means (10) radially inward thereof. Depression of the disk-engaging means (3) towards the base portion (1) causes the inner ends of the arms (2) and the center of the disk (11), to be depressed towards the base portion (1), the arms (2) initially pivoting about the first pivot means (9) and subsequently pivoting about the second pivot means (10) until retention of the disk (11) by the disk-engaging means (3) is released. This enables the thickness of the apparatus to be reduced, e.g. to 4 mm or less.

  • Patent number: 6523683
Abstract: A storage container (10) comprising an outer shell (12) and an insertable drawer member (14) configured and dimensioned for receiving and storing information-bearing discs (16) and accompanying printed matter (17). The insertable drawer member (14) includes features (78) to store the discs (16) by contacting non-information bearing surfaces thereof as well as structure (32, 36) for selectively retrieving the printed matter together with the disc (16) from the outer shell (12). The container (10) of the invention additionally comprises a tamper seal (86) formed integral therewith which fractures the first time the drawer member (14) is withdrawn from the shell (12) for determining whether the storage container (10) has ever been opened to access its contents after it was sealed at the factory.

  • Publication number: 20030012396
Abstract: The invention relates to a headset for reproducing audio signals. Headsets are known and used in combination with different types of (audio) apparatuses. The headset proposed by the invention enables the fixation of the coupling means at the central point of the headset. In this way the adjustment of the headset can be better optimized for each person.

  • Patent number: 6502694
Abstract: The apparatus comprises a base portion and at least two arms resiliently cantilevered from the base portion, the inner ends of the arms forming a button-like member and each having a projection for engaging on the outwardly facing surface of a compact disk held on the apparatus. Depression of the button-like member causes the projections to move towards each other until their engagement on the disk is released. An upstand surrounds the disk and is positioned close thereto so as to restrict movement of the disk within its own plane. the inner ends of the arms may be shaped to reduce the risk of forces applied thereto in the plane of the disk causing the disk to be released. Finger recesses in the upstand may be formed so as to inhibit access to the edge of a disk whilst held by the apparatus but provide access thereto once the disk has been released. 3-arm release mechanisms are also described.

  • Publication number: 20020130056
Abstract: The apparatus comprises a base portion (2) and at least two arms (1) resiliently cantilevered from the base portion (2), the inner ends of the arms (1) forming a button-like member (4) and each having a projection (4A) for engaging on the outwardly facing surface of a compact disk (10) held on the apparatus. Depression of the button-like member (4) causes the projections (4A) to move towards each other until their engagement on the disk (10) is released. An upstand (6) surrounds the disk (10) and is positioned close thereto so as to restrict movement of the disk (10) within its own plane. The inner ends (4) of the arms (1) may be shaped to reduce the risk of forces applied thereto in the plane of the disk (10) causing the disk (10) to be released. Finger recesses (6A) in the upstand may be formed so as to inhibit access to the edge of a disk (10) whilst held by the apparatus but provide access thereto once the disk (10) has been released. 3-arm release mechanisms are also described.

  • Patent number: 5788068
Abstract: An apparatus for holding a compact disk has a base portion and resilient inwardly extending radial arms, cantilevered from the base portion; the inner ends of the arms form a button-like member receivable in the central hole of the disk so that pressure applied to any one or more of the inner ends of the arms flexes each of the arms toward the base portion to move the inner ends of the arms toward each other sufficiently to release the button-like member from the disk. Lips on the button-like member retain the disk by engaging on the outer surface of the disk. Resilient ejection means may be provided to urge the compact disk out of engagement with the button-like member, and disk support means may be on the base portion to support the disk at positions away from the central hole of the disk. The apparatus may be formed as a one-piece plastics molding as a tray for insertion in a box or as part of a wall of a video style library box.
