    Abstract: Systems and methods for coordinated discovery of the status of network routes by hosts in a network. A plurality of host devices is connected to at least one of a plurality of egress devices. Each of the plurality of host devices is assigned to at least one cluster group. A cluster group may include one or more host devices connected to a common egress device. A master node is selected from the members of each cluster group. The master node coordinates the issuance of probe messages from the master node and other members of the cluster group to the common egress device. The probes provide the status of a network route to and through the common egress device. The master node makes the status available to the members of the cluster group. A member of the cluster group may obtain the status by communicating with the master node or by communicating with other members of its cluster group.

When an ISD is placed into a quarantined environment, any request from the ISD will be re-directed to a quarantine alert server in a quarantine sub-system. In response to the request, the quarantine alert server may provide the user with information about the quarantine and may redirect, or instruct the user to redirect, the request to a quarantine response server. The quarantine response server may provide additional information that is not in the quarantine video message as to how the user may end the quarantine.

The methods and apparatus of the present invention allow a cable service provider which supports eRFI on set top boxes to use the same eRFI server to provide responses to eRFI requests received from devices, e.g., cell phones and/or E-mail devices corresponding to a service subscriber, to forward electronic promotion information and to reward users in a forwarding chain for redemptions of coupons included in forwarded promotion information.
