  • Patent number: 6910790
Abstract: A headlight for providing a light beam adapted to illuminate the verge of the road. From the rear towards the front along a horizontal reference axis are an elliptical reflector, a light source, and a convergent lens element. The reflector and light source are mounted for pivoting movement, to provide a movable optical axis with respect to the longitudinal axis. The lens is fixed. A lateral portion arranged in an angular sector is swept by the movable optical axis, and is designed to cause the light beam to be modified as a function of the offset angle defined by the movable optical axis with the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 6893148
Abstract: A motor vehicle headlight has a light source cooperating with optical means to produce a beam which is generally spread widthwise. The optical means, such as a reflector, are adapted to produce in the beam two separate zones of maximum light intensity. The headlight gives two alternative functions, such as a short range lighting function for negotiating bends, and a foglight function, without the need for any movable optical components. The disclosure is also directed to a pair of vehicle lights so adapted, one on the right and one on the left of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20040264210
Abstract: Headlight for a motor vehicle comprising a reflector with an optical axis and at least one focus, a light source placed close to a focus of the reflector, and a transparent optical deviation element placed in front of part of the reflector, this element consisting of a module comprising a so-called “square lens” and the reflector placed behind the said lens, the module being able to provide an essentially horizontal spread of the light. The wall of the reflector comprises at least one scallop on one side of a plane passing through the optical axis of the reflector, and at least one additional reflector is disposed on the side of the scallop opposite to the optical axis, this additional reflector being designed to collect at least some of the light coming from the source emerging from the scallop, and to produce an additional beam which is not intercepted by the lens.

  • Publication number: 20040196662
Abstract: The invention concerns a lamp device for a motor vehicle, comprising at least one reflector, a light source producing a set of light signals possibly being reflected by the reflector, an output lens, comprising an input surface, an output surface and a focus, for producing a light beam, and a mask disposed between the reflector and the output lens for implementing a cutoff in the light beam produced.

  • Publication number: 20030189822
Abstract: A headlight for giving an offset beam or verge beam, for illuminating the verge of the road, is of the type comprising, considered from the rear towards the front along a horizontal reference axis, an elliptical reflector, a light source, and a convergent lens element. The reflector and light source are mounted for pivoting movement, thereby defining a movable optical axis with respect to the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 6409369
Abstract: A motor vehicle headlight comprises a single light source cooperating with fixed optical means to produce a fixed beam which is generally spread widthwise and which is such as to perform two functions selectively, namely to enhance a dipped passing beam produced by another headlight and to produce a further beam, such as a foglight beam, with a specific top cut-off. The beam comprises at least two regions which are bounded by at least two portions of the top cut-off line, these portions being arranged at different levels. The invention also relates to a pair of headlights of this type, one on the right of the vehicle and one on the left.

  • Patent number: 6341884
Abstract: A motor vehicle headlight comprises a light source mounted in a reflector and a glass. The reflector is mounted to pivot about a generally vertical axis, and displacement means are provided to vary the angular position of the reflector. According to the invention, the reflector is capable of occupying at least one first angular position in which the beam emitted thereby passes through a first glass to generate a first type of beam, and a second angular position which is fixed and different form the first angular position(s), and in which the beam passes through a second glass; the headlight also has optical means for generating through said second glass a fixed beam which has photometric characteristics different from those of the beam passing through the first glass. Application in particular to two-function headlights for providing both a cornering light beam and a fog light beam.
