  • Publication number: 20240121919
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a process that provides a semiconductor substrate and forms repeating, conductive patterns configured for coupling to active circuitry. Each pattern comprises a group of thermally conductive layers, wherein the group of thermally layers is thermally coupled to a thermal source generated by the active circuitry. Thermally conductive vias interconnect the group of thermally conductive layers, wherein a combination of the vias and the group of thermally conductive layers is configured to transfer heat from the thermal source with a desired directionality. The first repeating patterns are thermally coupled to each other to combine the desired directionality of each of the patterns, wherein the combination results in a distributed directionality of the heat from the thermal source thereby reducing a localized concentration of the heat. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10763692
Abstract: A method for managing the operation of an AC power distribution network to which connect a plurality of electric vehicles, at random times and at random locations to receive electrical energy for charging. The AC power distribution network is characterized by a dynamic state of balance between power generation and load, and it has an operating reserve which is a supplemental power generation capacity available to the AC power distribution network. The method includes the step of forecasting a power-supply contribution that would be available to the AC power distribution network from the electric vehicles connected to the AC power distribution network in the event the AC power distribution network experiences a state of imbalance resulting from a power-generation deficit. The method further includes adjusting the magnitude of the operating reserve on the basis of the forecasting.

  • Patent number: 9655279
Abstract: A system for cooling a CPU. The system has a tank for holding dielectric coolant in a liquid phase. The CPU is immersed in the coolant. A cover closes the tank. Electric pathways that convey data to/from the CPU traverse the cover. The electric pathways allow the CPU to exchange data with an external device. In this fashion, the CPU can perform data processing functions while being immersed in dielectric coolant.

  • Publication number: 20160190866
Abstract: A power control device for controlling electrical power transferred between an AC power grid and a load or between the AC power grid and an auxiliary power source. For example, the power control device may be configured to monitor an electrical characteristic of electrical energy supplied by the AC power grid to the load and to adjust a consumption of the electrical energy by the load when the electrical characteristic indicates that the AC power grid is no longer in a state of balance. As another example, the power control device may be configured to control an electrical energy injection process during which an injection of electrical energy from the auxiliary power source into the AC power grid is increased in relation to a detected rate of deviation of the AC power grid frequency.

  • Patent number: 8958545
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for reducing cross talk between first and second cables in a data transmission system, each of the cables comprised of a pair of conductors. The method comprises the steps of providing a first contact interconnected with a first conductor of the pair of conductors of the first cable, wherein the first contact emits a first signal, providing a pair of contacts, each of the pair of contacts interconnected with a different conductor of the pair of conductors of the second cable, and positioning the first contact relative to the pair of contacts such that an amplitude of the signal received at one of the second pair of contacts is substantially the same as an amplitude of the signal received at another of the second pair of contacts.

  • Patent number: 5885203
Abstract: A process for in situ remediation of contaminated soils and/or residues is disclosed. This process takes advantage of a horizontal radial flow irrigating/draining system and sensors (8) located at midspacing between parallel conduit lines (5) to create an environment propitious to the action of decontaminating agents (plants, microorganisms, salts, acids, bases, buffers, enzymes, substrates, surfactants, etc.). For example, a water-saturated zone may be created, the level of water containing decontaminating agents is raised, maintained and/or lowered, which water-saturated encourage desorption or solubilization of soluble contaminants, by adjusting and controlling all the parameters of reaction (time, temperature, pH, oxygenation, etc.) The process is easily adaptably for many classes of contaminants, including volatile compounds and light non-aqueous phase liquids, by further installing supplementary sets of conduit lines and pumping means at adequate levels.
