  • Patent number: 4597616
Abstract: A drawer-like container assembly comprising a support frame for slidingly supporting a rectangular container having at least opposed engageable side support members. The frame has a pair of spaced elongated container engaging channels for slidingly engaging the side supports on a respective side of the container. A retention gate is pivotally connected to the frame and positionable internally of the container for abutment with a rear portion of the container for retaining the container in the frame and limiting outward sliding displacement of the container when slidingly engaged by the frame. The retention gate is also positionable outwardly of the container to permit removal of the container from the frame.

  • Patent number: 4561676
Abstract: A child safety belt for attachment across a seat having an attaching side rod element for releasable securement of the belt thereto. The belt comprises a strap having elastic properties and a detachable securing buckle is secured to at least one end of the strap. The securing buckle has a pair of jaw members pivotally interconnected on a pivot axis to move from a closed to an open position. A first of the jaw members has a throat portion to receive the side rod element therein. A second of the jaw members has a strap attaching end rearwardly and offset from the pivot axis in a direction toward the first jaw member whereby tension on the strap urges the second jaw member against the first jaw member when the side rod is received in the throat portion and the jaw members are brought to the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4471970
Abstract: A resiliently biased seat panel for a seat frame associated with an end gate of a push-cart. The end gate has leg holes to permit the legs of a child seated on the seat frame to extend therethrough. The seat panel comprises a hinge along an edge thereof to hingedly retain the panel for displacement to and away from the seat frame. A spring biases the seat panel away from the seat frame in a position against the leg holes to obstruct at least a substantial portion of the leg holes when the seat panel is not utilized for seating a child. Thus, articles positioned on the seat frame cannot fall through the leg holes as it is obstructed by the seat panel.

  • Patent number: 4339063
Abstract: A container basket adapted to be transported by a wheelchair. The container comprises a bottom wall and opposed side walls defining a container area. A frontal opening is provided for access to the basket to permit insertion of articles on the bottom wall. Support bracket means is secured under the bottom wall and connectable to at least one side armrest of a wheelchair for supporting the basket above the armrest and forwardly of a person occupying the wheelchair.

  • Patent number: 4125270
Abstract: A collapsible seat pivotally secured to an end gate of a nestable shopping cart. The seat has a seating surface and is slidingly attached to a collapsible secondary gate which is hinged to the end gate and which provides a back rest for the seat. The improvement in the collapsible seat structure comprises the seat having opposed side end members pivotally secured at one end of the end gate and each having a free inwardly facing hook end. The side end members extend substantially parallel to one another. A connecting rod is secured to each of the side end members and extends adjacent to the hook ends to define an open ended guide channel between the hook end and the connecting rod. The secondary gate has opposed side end edges received in a respective guide channel. Each guide channel is restricted for sliding displacement along its respective end edge in the area of the back rest. Each hook end lies behind an outer surface of the back rest when the secondary gate is collapsed in the direction of the end gate.

  • Patent number: 4106626
Abstract: A stackable material handling container comprising a bottom support wall. Opposed pairs of leg members are provided on opposite sides of the bottom support wall, each of the leg members having a support surface spaced downwardly of the bottom support wall and an intermediate bearing surface spaced between the bottom support wall and the support surface. A rigid upstanding wall is secured to a marginal edge of the bottom support wall and extending thereabove across each pair of leg members. Guide means is provided on a top edge of the upstanding wall to position the bearing surface of each of the leg members of a further container in a respective support edge section of the top edge whereby containers may be stacked in alignment one on top of the other.

  • Patent number: 4090633
Abstract: A collapsible container side wall for use with a material support pallet. The container side wall has a front panel, a rear panel and two side panels, the latter panels being interconnected between opposed end edges of the front and rear panels by a respective hinge connection. Each of the side panels has two panel sections interconnected to each other by a transverse hinge located intermediate the front and rear panels and extending parallel to the hinge connections at the end edges of the front and rear panels. The transverse hinge of one of the two side panels is offset laterally from the transverse hinge of the other side panel whereby the panel sections can fold inwardly with one side panel on top of the other between the front and rear panels with these latter panels collapsing towards each other. Retention means is provided in the lower edge of the container side wall to prevent lateral displacement of the container side wall when positioned about a peripheral area of the pallet.

  • Patent number: 3963255
Abstract: A shopping cart comprising an open-topped container having a bottom wall, spaced side walls and a front wall. An end gate forms a rear wall for the container and has leg holes in an upper portion thereof. A secondary gate is pivotally connected at a lower end thereof to the end gate below the leg holes. A folding and unfolding seat is secured between these gates, and a seat support slide member is pivotally connected at one end to the end gate to support and position the seat adjacent a lower edge of the leg holes between the end gate and secondary gate. The secondary gate is slidingly retained at opposed vertical side edges thereof in a respective end channel formed integrally with the seat support slide member whereby the secondary gate is displaceable towards and away from the end gate from its pivotally connected lower end.
