Abstract: Some embodiments provide a document viewing application with first and second document channel browsing modes. The first mode displays selectable items corresponding to document channels. Selection of an item causes the application to add the corresponding document channel to a set of selected document channels from which to retrieve documents for presentation within the application and dynamically add items corresponding to document channels related to the selected document channel to the selectable items for display in the first mode. The second mode displays a first set of selectable items corresponding to sources of documents and a second set of selectable items corresponding to document topics. Selection of an item in the second browsing mode causes the application to add the corresponding document channel to the set of selected document channels and modify the selectable items presented in the second mode a next time the second mode is entered.

Abstract: A home security system may infer a mode of operation based on indications it receives regarding a user's behavior. The disclosed implementations provide for a vacation mode of operation that defines a response for a security event that differs from the response that would be provided by the home security system for the same security event if it operated in another mode such as an away mode.

Abstract: A portable electronic device with a touch-sensitive display is configured to separately display sets of media player controls, including a first set and a second set. The device displays the first set while playing a first media item and detects gestures on the touch-sensitive display while displaying the first set and playing the first media item. In response to detecting a first gesture on a first media player control in the first set, the device activates the first media player control and controls playing of the first media item in accordance with activation of the first media player control. In response to detecting a second gesture, the second gesture distinct from the first gesture, the device replaces display of the first set with display of the second set and maintains playing of the first media item.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a computer-implemented method can be provided for encoding radio frequency identification (RFID) electronic tags to represent custom-order nutrition variables. At an electronic vendor device, a custom food order can be identified. At the electronic vendor device, a nutrition variable based on the custom food order can be determined. At the electronic vendor device, an RFID electronic tag can be encoded to store the nutritional variable.
