  • Publication number: 20160357364
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a document viewing application with first and second document-browsing modes. The first document-browsing mode, accessed through a first UI item of several top-level UI items, displays several selectable document channel items corresponding to previously-selected document channels. Selection of one of the selectable document channel items causes the document viewing application to present a set of documents related to the document channel corresponding to the particular selectable item. The second document-browsing mode, accessed through a second UI item of the several top-level UI items, displays several selectable document panes corresponding to documents related to several of the previously-selected channels.

  • Publication number: 20160357365
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a document viewing application with first and second document channel browsing modes. The first mode displays selectable items corresponding to document channels. Selection of an item causes the application to add the corresponding document channel to a set of selected document channels from which to retrieve documents for presentation within the application and dynamically add items corresponding to document channels related to the selected document channel to the selectable items for display in the first mode. The second mode displays a first set of selectable items corresponding to sources of documents and a second set of selectable items corresponding to document topics. Selection of an item in the second browsing mode causes the application to add the corresponding document channel to the set of selected document channels and modify the selectable items presented in the second mode a next time the second mode is entered.

  • Patent number: 9501924
Abstract: A home security system may infer a mode of operation based on indications it receives regarding a user's behavior. The disclosed implementations provide for a vacation mode of operation that defines a response for a security event that differs from the response that would be provided by the home security system for the same security event if it operated in another mode such as an away mode.

  • Patent number: 9396369
Abstract: In some embodiments, a seal is provided that includes an adhesive bottom layer, a non-adhesive top layer, and an electronic tag. The electronic tag can be positioned on or in the adhesive bottom layer or non-adhesive top layer or positioned in between the adhesive bottom layer and non-adhesive top layer. The electronic tag can include one or more processors and a computer-readable storage medium containing instructions, that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform actions. The actions can include detecting, at the electronic tag, a physical disturbance of the electronic tag and retrieving, at the electronic tag, stored data from a local memory. The actions can also include, responsive to the detection, facilitating transmission of a signal from the electronic tag that includes the retrieved data from a transmitter of the electronic tag to a device using radio frequency identification (RFID).

  • Patent number: 9255814
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that allow steps to be counted in multiple pedometer modes. For example, a pedometer application on an electronic device can count steps in an ambient mode of operation and a session mode of operation. By maintaining separate counters for each pedometer mode and continuously monitoring the desired mode of operation, the pedometer application can accurately count the number of steps during a certain time period. In response to detecting a change in the desired mode, the pedometer application can seamlessly switch to the corresponding mode counter. In some embodiments, the pedometer application can display graphical representations of historical step information for one or more pedometer modes.

  • Publication number: 20150288769
Abstract: Systems, methods and machine-readable media are disclosed for providing media pools in a communications network. For example, a media pool application on an electronic device can generate media pools (e.g., static media pools and temporary media pools) in a communications network. In addition, the media pool application can provide one or options for a user to manage the media pools. In some embodiments, the media pool application can provide one or more candidate media pools that a user may join. For example, the one or more candidate media pools can be generated based on metadata associated with media items that are located on one or more electronic devices in the communications network.

  • Patent number: 8621379
Abstract: A method for duplicating and using virtual keys includes displaying a virtual keyboard that includes a plurality of keys. The method also includes detecting a first input to the device that activates a key cloning mode. The method further includes: while in the key cloning mode, detecting selection of a first key on the virtual keyboard; and in response to detecting selection of the first key, displaying a duplicate of the first key. The method further includes detecting activation of the duplicate of the first key; and, in response to detecting activation of the duplicate of the first key, performing an action in accordance with the first key.

  • Patent number: 8407098
Abstract: This is directed to systems and methods for ordering a playlist of media items. An existing playlist can include media sharing some characteristics, where some of the media items are unfamiliar to the user. To provide the user with a sense of the unfamiliar media items, the electronic device can order the playlist media items based on a familiarity or popularity measure. For example, the electronic device can determine the chart rankings of each media item in the playlist, and play back the media items in the order of chart ranking. This may allow a user to first listen or watch the most familiar or popular media items and get a sense for the less familiar or popular media items in the playlist.
