  • Publication number: 20060221821
Abstract: A method and apparatus for load balancing in a wireless network is provided. For example, this invention is directed to a technique for balancing bearer load across a bank of traffic processors associated with a high-availability radio network controller (RNC). Instantaneous measures (e.g. processor occupancy) are used as one parameter for such load balancing. Predictive measures are used as another parameter. The predictive measures indicate the degree to which a given processor can become busy in the next few intervals of time and is based on the unrealized potential as derived from the established data rate of bearer sessions. The overall technique described herein allows for an even distribution of highly bursty traffic, with an objective of preserving call quality during periods of increased network congestion.

  • Publication number: 20060131443
Abstract: It relates to an evaporator device of those which are used to diffuse fragrances, insecticides or other substances which are held in a recipient (1) in the form of two immiscible liquids. It comprises two wicks (2, 2?) which extend from the interior of the recipient (1) in contact with the liquid or the liquids to the exterior where the evaporation area thereof is located, and a stopper cover (3) which closes the recipient (1) and which is traversed by the wicks (2, 2?). One of the wicks (2) has an impermeable layer (4) which extends from its lower extremity to the stopper cover (3) of the recipient (1) preventing contact with one of the liquids and enabling the ingress of the other liquid into the wick (2) only through its lower extremity, thereby allowing the independent egress of each liquid through each wick (2, 2?).

  • Patent number: 6947822
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of controlling multiple electronically controlled components (101) utilizes a controller (103) that controls one of the components (101A). A control interface (211) replicates the control signal (201) generated by the controller (103) for each additional component (101B through 101E), such that the replicated signal bears significant resemblance to the original control signal with respect to current, voltage, and pulse width. The replicated signals are provided to the additional components (101B through 101E) at substantially the same time as the control signal (201) is provided to the first component (101A).
