Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques for dynamic diagnosis and/or prediction of trouble events in a storage cluster system and automated selection of solutions thereto. An apparatus includes a retrieval component to, in response to a trouble event with a first component of a storage cluster system at a usage level under a first usage type, retrieve a component model of a second component associated with a second usage type from a model database, wherein the second usage type comprises operations that differ from operations of the first usage type by no more than a predetermined threshold of difference; and a selection component to apply the first usage level to the component model to derive a resulting level of performance and determine whether to recommend installation of the second component in the first storage cluster system to address the trouble event based on the resulting level of performance.

Abstract: Some content players use manifest files to obtain and play video content. The manifest files include metadata information for obtaining video chunks that together constitute a full video, and can be used by content players to obtain the chunks, stitch them together, and render the video as a stream. Described herein are techniques for dynamically generating manifest files. A request for a manifest file is received, such as from a video player. Manifest file contents are retrieved, such as from an original manifest file. A manifest file to be used by a video player to fetch video chunks is then dynamically generated and returned.

Abstract: This invention relates to a waste receptacle comprising a container having a means to connect a refuse bag within the container for holding waste items, and a compaction mechanism, the compaction mechanism comprising at least one compactor plate, moveable between a non-compacting position and a compacting position, wherein the at least one compactor plate is operable in use to move at least a portion of a connected refuse bag over waste items located within the refuse bag when moving from its non-compacting position to its compacting position and subsequently directly act upon an outer surface of the connected refuse bag to compact the waste items located therein.
