  • Patent number: 7840346
Abstract: Real time performance comparison involves identifying predefined route data corresponding to a route. Measured locations are detected while a user traverses the route carrying a mobile device. The measured locations are sent via a network synchronously with the detection of the respective measured locations. Comparative data points are derived based on the predefined route data and the measured locations in response to receiving the measured locations. The comparative data points are sent, via the network, in response to measured locations. The comparative data points allow the user to measure relative performance during the route traversal.

  • Patent number: 7725431
Abstract: Aspects of the invention described herein provide a method and apparatus for the synchronization of metadata across various metadata repositories. According to the invention, upon synchronization of a local metadata repository and at least one remote metadata repository, metadata values are stored in a local collection or mediator database. The mediator database facilitates conflict resolution across metadata repositories. The invention further provides a repository-specific metadata memory to enable the storage of repository-specific metadata histories to further enhance management and synchronization of the metadata.

  • Patent number: 7720436
Abstract: Displaying network content searches on mobile devices involves obtaining results of a network content request via a mobile device. A geolocation of at least one object associated with the results of the network content request is also obtained. A scene is viewed in a camera view of the mobile device. A virtual location is determined in the camera view. The virtual location represents the actual location of the object relative to the scene contained in the camera view. A graphic representing the object is then displayed at the virtual location in the camera view.

  • Patent number: 7613668
Abstract: A method for teaching an anomaly detecting mechanism in a system comprising observable elements (302), at least one of which has a periodic time-dependent behaviour, the anomaly detecting mechanism comprising a computerized learning mechanism (314). The method comprises assembling indicators (304) indicating the behaviour of the elements (302) and arranging the assembled indicators such that each observable element's indicators are assigned to the same input data component. The learning mechanism (314) is taught so that the input data of the learning mechanism comprises the input data components which are based on the assembled indicators (304). Points which approximate the input data are placed in the input space. A presentation of time (420-424) is incorporated into at least one input data component wherein the presentation of time is periodic, continuous and un-ambiguous within the period of the at least one element with periodic time-dependent behaviour.

  • Publication number: 20090228211
Abstract: The invention is a system and method for computing a result for a location, wherein the result indicates how novel it is for a wireless device to occupy a specific location. After determining the location of a wireless device through various means, a Novelty Index Value (NIV) is calculated for the location, and the NIV is then stored into a database. The NIV may then be subsequently used by application programs to compute a desired result from the NIV. Multiple users may utilize and/or share the same NIV values. The NIV may also be used to alter the configuration of a wireless device as well. A recommendation system is also disclosed, wherein user context is utilized along with NIV values to compute particular results for a user.

  • Patent number: 7580363
Abstract: An apparatus and method for facilitating user selection of communication recipients via communication devices. Communication attributes of previous communication events involving the communication device are monitored. Selection criteria are established based on the monitored communication attributes. One or more adaptive recipient history lists are maintained, which correspond to contacts that are affiliated with the communication events satisfying the selection criteria. At least one of the adaptive recipient history lists are presented to the user via the communication device, thereby allowing the user to select the intended recipient via more relevant, focused short lists of likely recipients.

  • Patent number: 7505753
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, a device and a process for distributing various tasks performed by a mobile terminal (101) over time. The idea of the invention is to increase talk and standby times of said terminal (101) by executing as many power consuming, delayable tasks as possible when the terminal is connected to a charging device (102). Advanced solution exploits e.g. ideal task execution time intervals, the calculation of which is based on gathered user profile information. An intelligent charging device (102) with memory and processing means to share the task execution with said terminal (101) or to completely take care of some tasks on behalf of said terminal (101) is presented.

  • Publication number: 20080275960
Abstract: Content items may be transmitted and synchronized between a receiving device and a content hosting service (e.g., a file sharing service) using a coordinating device. The coordinating device may be in and/or connected to a local network of the local device and may facilitate communications between the local device and the remote service. Alternatively, the coordinating device may be remotely connected to the local device. The coordinating device may monitor for new content information on either the local device or the remote service (or both) and propagate new or updated content as appropriate. The coordinating device may further perform functions such as reformatting content, maintaining a database of content identifiers and synchronizing metadata associated with content items.
