  • Patent number: 8155060
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for defining terminal behavior in a case where the terminal detects that it cannot receive the HS-DSCH from a serving cell reliably when the DCCH is mapped to HS-DSCH (e.g. does not receive any radio link control (RLC) acknowledged mode feedback for the uplink measurement reports or in general the common pilot channel (CPICH) level drops too low in the serving HS-DSCH cell). The terminal is autonomously moved to a cell forward access channel (CELL_FACH) state and uplink signaling is initiated on a random access channel (RACH) to inform a network node and ask for HS-DSCH re-establishment in a suitable cell (preferably in the one being strongest one in the active set or according to the measurements done prior the connection from the serving HS-DSCH cell was lost), or setting up a regular R?99/R?5 DPCH in order to restore the RRC signaling connection in the CELL_DCH state.

Abstract: A method includes simultaneously receiving a first communication using a first radio access technology and a second communication using a second radio access technology, and using only the first radio access technology, transmitting first feedback information for the first communication and second feedback information for the second communication to a network device that performed the first communication. A method includes, using a first radio access technology, receiving first feedback information for a first communication that used the first radio access technology and second feedback information for a second communication that used a second radio access technology. The method also includes, using the first feedback information in association with a subsequent communication using the first radio access technology, and communicating the second feedback information to a network entity that performed the second communication. Program products and apparatus are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8027317
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method, system, network element and computer program product for transmitting a data stream in a point-to-multipoint mode from a source entity to a plurality of users in a predetermined area of a cellular network, said predetermined area comprising a plurality of sub-areas. A predetermined, recurring time period is allocated to transmission of localized data specified for users of individual ones of said plurality of sub-areas, and a transmission capacity of the data stream is divided using said predetermined, recurring time period among adjacent sub-areas. Localized data is then transmitted during the predetermined, recurring time period using a divided transmission capacity allocated to the respective sub-area. Thereby, combination of global and local broadcast or multicast content is enabled in a broadcast system by avoiding overlapping of transmissions with different content at cell edges.

  • Patent number: 7925271
Abstract: To prevent oscillation in load levels on radio interfaces between one or more user equipment devices and neighboring base stations after the base stations have reduced the data rates of the one or more user equipment devices connected thereto over said radio interfaces, one or more radio network controllers select appropriate delay periods for each neighboring base station so that each base station waits for a different recovery period after a maximum or target load level has been exceeded before increasing loading.

  • Patent number: 7539165
Abstract: A method and associated equipment for use by a first entity (17) of a radio access network (101), such as a node B, in communicating with a UE (18) so as to control an uplink rate used by the UE (18) in communicating with the first entity (17), the method characterized by: a step in which the first entity (17) transmits to the UE (18) a rate control signal (RA) conveying information regarding the uplink rate. • Publication number: 20090041024
Abstract: In order to enable a more efficient use of an available transmission capacity, a transmitting device (10) assigns at least one identifier in common to at least two receiving devices (20, 30, 40). Further, it signals the at least one identifier to each of the receiving devices. A receiving device (20) receives and registers such a common identifier. Thereafter, the transmitting device announces a respective transmission of data packets for at least one of the receiving devices on a transmission channel by signaling the at least one common identifier. The receiving device (20) receives and detects such an identifier, which is used by the transmitting device (10) for announcing a transmission of data packets. The receiving device then extracts data packets for the receiving device from data packets on the transmission channel announced by the detected identifier.

  • Patent number: 7346349
Abstract: This invention addresses the problem of latency of response regarding information relying on an IMEISV from a CN. This is possible by defining the early RRC connection bits' indication to determine the supported signalling schemes and providing the IMEISV information from the terminal to the network. After this point the CN is able providing this mapping information to the radio access network before actual radio links are utilized. The idea here is for early RRC message information to be used for indicating what version of bitmap correction terminal capabilities refers to and what procedures can be utilized while waiting for this bit map information from the CN. Using this approach the length of the early RRC message can be kept short, the content of corrections can be well defined saving signalling bits, and the concern of a fast available indication on the connection set-up phase can still be addressed.

  • Publication number: 20070297361
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and software product are for masking a subframe of a shared control channel. A first part of the subframe is masked in a way specific to a user equipment, while using an identification of the user equipment. A remaining part of the subframe is masked using a second level masking operation, or at least using one other identification of the user equipment. This allows addition of more signaling information on an existing shared control channel, for example in the context of high speed downlink packet access.
