  • Patent number: 8867139
Abstract: An eyepiece includes a display module for providing display light, a concave end reflector, and a viewing region including a partially reflective surface to redirect at least a portion of the display light out of an eye-ward side of the eyepiece along an emission path. The partially reflective surface is obliquely angled with an offset from 45 degrees relative to the eye-ward side to cause the emission path to have a first oblique angle in a horizontal dimension relative to a first normal vector of the eye-ward side. The concave end reflector is tilted such that a second normal vector from a center point of the concave end reflector is obliquely angled relative to a top or bottom surface of the eyepiece to cause the emission path to have a second oblique angle in a vertical dimension relative to the first normal vector of the eye-ward side.

  • Patent number: 8760765
Abstract: An eyepiece for a head mounted display includes a display module, end reflector, and viewing region. The end reflector is disposed at an opposite end of the eyepiece from the display module to reflect the display light back from a forward propagation path to a reverse propagation path. The viewing region is disposed between the display module and the end reflector and includes a partially reflective surface, that passes the display light traveling along the forward propagation path and redirects the display light traveling along the reverse propagation path out of an eye-ward side of the eyepiece along an emission path. The partially reflective surface has a compound folding angle such that the emission path of the display light emitted from the eyepiece is folded along two axes relative to the reverse propagation path between the end reflector and the partially reflective surface.

  • Publication number: 20140108483
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to managing multiple different types of applications using service groups. In one scenario, a computer system receives an indication of one or more application dependencies and characteristics that are to be implemented when an application is provisioned on a distributed host computer system. The computer system creates an application manifest that declaratively defines application dependencies and characteristics for various different service groups. Each service group includes applications that match the declaratively defined application dependencies and characteristics. The computer system also sends the manifest to the distributed host computer system which loads those applications that fit the manifest criteria onto available nodes of the distributed host computer system according to the service groups specified in the manifest.

  • Publication number: 20140101648
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to ensuring that only one version of an application is running on a cluster. In one scenario, a computer system includes a configuration agent that generates service instance version queries upon startup to determine which service instance version to activate, maintains a service instance version table that includes a listing of service instance versions currently running on the computer system as part of one or more application instances and activates specified service instances. The computer system also includes a failover manager that manages service instance version queries. The failover manager indicates which service instance version to activate to ensure that the appropriate, current version is activated for each service instance. The computer system further includes a cluster manager that creates, deletes and upgrades service instances as part of an application instance upgrade.

  • Publication number: 20130345687
Abstract: Disclosed herein are optical assemblies having thin, low profile shapes. These optical assemblies may be used with fiber coupled lasers and other light sources, including high power sources, to irradiate tissue at a wavelength suitable for inducing ablation or coagulation to a target depth, denaturation, thermal modification of a tissue, and/or preferential injury to a target tissue structure. Example optical assemblies can produce substantially uniform illumination patterns that are useful for treating superficial tissue, including the internal or luminal (e.g., esophageal) tissue. Some examples may have capability for cooling superficial tissue or skin, such as a detachable, reusable heat sink for active cooling without consumables, fluid pumps, or other cooling equipment.

  • Patent number: 8612905
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a vacuity detection report to reduce false positive verification results for digital circuits provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a design description of the digital design is generated. From the design description, a vacuity detection problem is derived by introducing an assertion into the design description. By introducing an assertion into the design description, the vacuity detection problem is solvable by formal assertion based verification engines. A verification engine is then used to solve the vacuity detection problem and produce a vacuity detection report. This Abstract is provided for the sole purpose of complying with the Abstract requirement rules that allow a reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the disclosure contained herein. This Abstract is submitted with the explicit understanding that it will not be used to interpret or to limit the scope or the meaning of the claims.

  • Patent number: 8608429
Abstract: A high pressure turbine (HPT) blade includes a substantially arcuate trailing edge including one or more fluid injection elements disposed therein. Each fluid injection element injects a fluid such as air into a desired trailing edge region of the HPT blade or vane to enhance mixing out of the wakes generated via the HPT blade or vane. The enhanced mixing out reduces HPT/LPT interaction losses and/or the axial gap between the HPT and LPT components in a gas turbine engine. The interaction losses include unsteady thermal wake segregation effects that lead to unexpected heat-up of endwalls (planforms and blade/vane-tips) of downstream blades/vanes, and further include aerodynamic losses, both transonic and subsonic.
