  • Publication number: 20160029403
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described herein that facilitate mesh network communication by a millimeter wave base stations (mBs) or WTRUs as nodes of a directional mesh network with other nodes of the directional mesh network. The mB or WTRU may include a directional antenna configured to transmit and receive signals in specific directions during the mesh network communication to define a directional mesh network. The mBs or WTRUs may transmit transmission request messages to neighbor nodes, wherein the transmission request messages include transmission slot allocation bitmaps and channel quality indicator information (CQI). Then response messages from the neighbor nodes may be received, wherein the response messages include receive slot allocation bitmaps and resource allocation decisions. The mBs or WTRUs may then update their transmission slot allocation bitmaps based on the received response messages and transmit data packets in specific directions based on the updated transmission slot allocation bitmap.

  • Publication number: 20150382171
Abstract: Device discovery at long ranges using directional antenna patterns for both transmission and reception of discovery beacon messages and discovery beacon response messages. Omnidirectional band transmissions to assist aiming a directional antenna are also described. Further, discovery beacons that include only those information elements which are necessary for device discovery are discussed, as well as separate scheduling beacons. • Publication number: 20150373572
Abstract: Techniques may be used for interference measurement and management in directional mesh networks, including centralized and/or distributed approaches. A centralized node, such as an operations and maintenance (OAM) center, may use feedback from nodes in the mesh network to partition the nodes in the mesh network into clusters based on interference levels. Interference measurement reports may be used by the centralized node to update cluster membership. An initiating node in the mesh network may use topographical information to generate an initial interference cluster, and interference measurement frame (IMF) scheduling information may be used to schedule transmissions within the interference clusters. Techniques for opportunistic measurement campaigns, simultaneous measurement campaigns, link failure detection, and link re-acquisition in directional mesh networks may also be used.

  • Publication number: 20150324604
Abstract: A method of energy usage data privacy preservation is described. The method includes downloading energy usage data and a signature from a repository. The method includes determining whether the signature is that of a utility. When the signature is not that of the utility, the method includes rejecting the energy usage data. When the signature is that of the utility, the method includes generating noisy data, encrypting a message-signature pair, constructing a proof, and communicating the noisy data, the encrypted message-signature pair, and the proof to a third party. The noisy data is generated by adding random noise to the energy usage data. The message-signature pair includes the energy usage data and a verified signature. The proof is configured to establish that the encrypted message-signature pair and the noisy data are members of a corresponding proof language.

  • Publication number: 20150230263
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving and performing mmW beam tracking is disclosed. Localization methods to improve prediction of the position of a WTRU are described, which may allow a millimeter wave base station (mB) to appropriately select a modified beam and to perform more efficient handover. WTRUs may report directional signal strength measurements to mBs, which may then be used to generate a directional radio environment map (DREM) for use in identifying secondary links to use when a primary link fails. Additional localization techniques using internal/external information for prediction are described. Historical data use and the use of data obtained from mB-mB cooperation including feedback information and reference signaling information are also described. Methods for beam tracking for directional relays and initial beam training optimization are described as well.

  • Publication number: 20150109943
Abstract: A cellular communications network may be configured to leverage a millimeter wave (mmW) mesh network. Base stations may be configured to operate as mmW base stations (tnBs). Such base stations may be configured to participate in the mmW mesh network and to access the cellular communications network (e.g., via cellular access links). A network device of the cellular communications network (e.g., an eNB) may operate as a control entity with respect to one or more niBs. Such a network device may govern mesh backhaul routing with respect to the cellular communications network and the mmW mesh network. Such a network device may configure the mmW mesh network, for example by performing a process to join a new mB to the mmW mesh network. A WTRU may send and receive control information via a cellular access fink and may send and receive data via the mmW mesh network.
