  • Patent number: 8798914
Abstract: Apparatuses and Methods of navigating from a current position to a destination location at a mobile device are provided. A navigation program is launched at the mobile device, and a selection of a calendar event from a calendar program is received, where the calendar event is an entry in the calendar program. A location associated with the received calendar event location is determined, and a destination location is determined based on the associated location. The navigation program generates navigation instructions (e.g., turn-by-turn directions, map information, etc.) from a current location of the mobile device to the destination location. In an alternative aspect, instead of a calendar program, the associated location can be retrieved from a given contact in a contact list or program.

  • Publication number: 20130328719
Abstract: Spoofing of a satellite positioning system is detected by receiving position location data from multiple sources. The received data is compared and inconsistent data is marked. A position location is estimated based on the received position location data, while accounting for the marked inconsistent data.

  • Publication number: 20130201056
Abstract: A method and system for assisting mobile stations to locate a satellite use an efficient messaging format. A server computes a correction between coarse orbit data of a satellite and precise orbit data of the satellite. A coordinate system is chosen such that variation of the correction is substantially smooth over time. The server further approximates the correction with mathematical functions to reduce the number of bits necessary for transmission to a mobile station. The mobile station, upon receiving the coefficients, evaluates the mathematical functions using the coefficients and a time of applicability (e.g., the current time), converts the evaluated result to a standard coordinate system, and applies the conversion result to the coarse orbit data to obtain the precise orbit data.

  • Publication number: 20130158860
Abstract: A system and method for conditionally transitioning a navigation process on a mobile device between an active state and a reduced activity state are described. In particular, a transition of the navigation process between the active state and the reduced activity state may occur in response to the mobile device approaching a transition location on a predetermined route where the navigation process is to transition to the active state.

  • Patent number: 8334806
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided which may be used in mobile stations to perform or otherwise support location services. Signals representing existing SPS-related information associated with the mobile station can be stored during a MS-based or a standalone GNSS tracking session. In response to a request for an MS-assisted location session, the existing SPS-related information can be compared to a threshold. Signals representing the requested SPS-related information can be generated based on the existing SPS-related information and stored in memory.

  • Patent number: 8259010
Abstract: A position determining system (PDS) receiver gathers independent location information from multiple sources. These multiple pieces of location information are analyzed to determine consistency of location. If the location is consistent among the various independently gathered location information, then the location information is injected into the PDS positioning process for more efficient acquisition and positioning. Otherwise, if inconsistency is found, then no location information is injected into the PDS positioning process.
