  • Patent number: 9174327
Abstract: A socket assembly includes a plurality of multi-faceted segments disposed in a standard multi-point socket in an annular arrangement, one multi-faceted segment for each apex in the multi-point socket. Each multi-faceted segment has a length extending between two ends and a plurality of flat facets extending along the length including two outer facets defining a pivot edge that engages an apex between two internal socket walls and an internal facet facing inwardly and sized to engage a side of a multi-sided fastener. A retaining mechanism is provided to secure the plurality of multi-faceted segments in the standard multi-point socket.

  • Patent number: 8388266
Abstract: An apparatus 40 is used for stabilizing a leak in a dam 20, which was built adjacent a body of water 26 to prevent flooding of the water onto adjacent land areas 24a. Leaks in the dam 20 may occur because of a breach 38 developing undesirably in, and possibly through, the dam. The apparatus 40 includes an elastomeric sheet 44, which is wound onto a spool 48, when the apparatus is in a storage-and-handling mode. When the breach 38 is discovered, the apparatus 40 is placed adjacent the dam 20 and the sheet 44 is unfurled into a breach-sealing mode of the apparatus, where the breach 38 is covered and sealed by the unfurled sheet.

  • Patent number: 5984044
Abstract: An acoustical barrier wall includes a base; a plurality of acoustical panels sized for vertically stacked co-operating engagement, each panel having a top edge, a bottom edge, a first side edge, and a second side edge; at least one pair of H-beams spaced in a row and extending vertically upward from the base, one H-beam being adapted to supportingly receive the first side edge of each panel and the other H-beam being adapted to supportingly receive the second side edge of each panel; and means for protecting the first and second side edges of at least one panel. In the preferred embodiment, the means for protecting the first and second side edges is at least one protective sleeve mounted on the first or second side edge of at least one panel. The protective sleeve is slidably mounted on the side edge and is made of a plastic material, such as polyethylene.

  • Patent number: 5632407
Abstract: An adapter is attached to a cover of a squeezable drink container for preventing a direct contact between a user's mouth and the container outlet. The adapter comprises a cup, an upper edge of which rests around the user's mouth during drinking. The cup has circumferentially spaced-apart side openings for draining an excess of the liquid supplied to the user's mouth.

  • Patent number: 5564695
Abstract: A break-away base for preventing injuries to baseball players, particularly when sliding into the base. The break-away base has a generally-square first portion and has four sides, each of which is bent downwardly and outwardly to provide an inclined face portion which is disposed upwardly and away from the baseball player when the player is sliding into the base. The first portion is fixedly mounted in the ground, such that a greater part of the respective inclined faces are below the ground level. A second generally-square portion is disposed on top of the first portion and substantially aligned therewith. The first portion and the second portion are magnetically attracted to one another with a sufficient force to prevent inadvertent dislodgement therefrom but insufficient to prevent the second portion faces being slid away from the first portion when a player vigorously slides into the base.

  • Patent number: 5525755
Abstract: A removable cover for shrouding an electrical component from the impingement of dust, plaster, paste or paint during a room surface finishing process, the electrical component being disposed in an electrical junction box mounted within a wall and having apertures formed therein. The removable cover includes a cap member for covering the electrical component when the removable cover is disposed over the electrical component. The removable cover also includes at least one plug member formed on the cap member for coupling the cap member to the electrical component. The plug member is configured so as to be securely disposed within an aperture of the electrical component when the removable cover is disposed over the electrical component.

  • Patent number: 5516175
Abstract: A bag carrier useful for transporting at least one bag which includes a loop handle. The carrier includes a shaft for supporting the loop handle when the handle is disposed about the shaft, and at least one handle member disposed on and co-axial with the shaft. The handle may be formed integral with the shaft or may be attached thereto such as through the use of adhesive or by press-fitting the handles onto the shaft. The handles are made from compressible material, such as foam, which functions to minimize the discomfort associated with carrying the bags. The bag carrier may be manufactured by first forming the shaft with the desired cross-section. At least one handle is then formed with an outer cross-sectional dimension larger than that of the shaft. The handle is slid over the shaft to complete the carrier. A coating may be applied to the handle or the shaft to operate as a means for identifying or advertising. The handles may be configured in a shape which will further assist in advertising.
