  • Patent number: 10389511
Abstract: A duplex frequency is supplemented by providing simplex frequencies and distributing a data load among them. A server initially communicates with a communications device using a duplex channel. A scheduler of the server determines when it is no longer optimal to use the single duplex channel, and distributes data among the duplex channel and the simplex channels. Before sending this data through multiple channels, the server first sends a schedule to the communications device to inform which bits of data are coming through which channels at which times. The scheduler compiles this schedule and sends it to the communications device through the duplex channel. A descheduler within the communications device receives the schedule and alerts the communications device to start receiving data on other simplex channels. The descheduler then puts the bits of data in order as they stream in across the duplex and simplex channels.

  • Patent number: 10382995
Abstract: Utilization of collected crowd-sourced access point quality and selection data for intelligent network selection can optimize access point device selection. A cloud-based application can be utilized in conjunction with a mobile device to build a database of access point quality and thresholds suitable for real-time and other jitter-sensitive services. In one embodiment, a first mobile device can receive access point data associated with a second mobile device. The access point data associated with the second mobile device can then inform the first mobile device on whether to communicate with the access point device or utilized cellular communication.

  • Patent number: 10375643
Abstract: Data bundling and fast dormancy controls are provided based on application monitoring and classification. Moreover, a balance is enabled between saving battery power of a user equipment (UE) and reducing signaling and processing load in a radio resource controller (RRC). For instance, a system can observe data flow related behavior of applications on the UE. On receiving a first data flow request, an arrival time of a next data flow request is predicted based on an analysis of the behavior, and the system determines whether the two data flows can be bundled together and transmitted over a single connection. Additionally, on completion of the first data flow, the arrival time of the next data flow request is predicted based on the analysis, and the system determines whether a fast dormancy timer can be disabled to transmit the next data flow over the current connection.

  • Patent number: 10361950
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to provide a consumer services cloud in a communications network are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a processor; and a computer readable storage medium including computer readable instructions which, when executed, cause the processor to perform operations. The operations include identifying which of multiple possible users associated with a communications network customer is a current user of a client device based on authentication information included in a request for access from the client device to a communication network. The network communication containing the request is diverted to the apparatus by a software-defined networking switch. The operations also include, in response to identifying the current user, accessing a first profile corresponding to the identified current user to determine a rule to be used to handle network communications within the communications network. Further operations include configuring the software-defined networking switch.

  • Patent number: 10348849
Abstract: A method includes generating, at a media device, a user profile based on first data received from a portable device. The first data indicates media content sent to a display device of the portable device by an application on the portable device. The method includes recording, via the media device, a media content item from a content source, where the media content item is selected based on the user profile. The method also includes sending the media content item from the media device to the portable device via a local area network. The portable device stores the media content item at a pre-cache memory to enable the portable device to playback the media content item from the pre-cache memory when the portable device is not able to communicate via the local area network.

  • Publication number: 20190208409
Abstract: Content of wireless equipment (WE) is managed over-the-air (OTA). Content is germane to feature(s) of the WE and is related to operation thereof. Management of the content is automatically implemented in response to attachment of the WE to a confined-coverage access point (AP). The WE and a network server enable, in part, such management. The confined-coverage AP enables exchange of signaling and data associated with management of the content amongst the WE and the network server. Content includes software (SW); management OTA of SW can include update of an in-use version of a SW application or related SW component(s). SW update signaling can comprise message(s) conveying a WE identifier and in-use version(s) of SW; request(s) for an update instruction; request(s) for at least one file associated with the SW; or message(s) indicative of availability of version(s) of SW newer than the in-use version(s).

  • Publication number: 20190200294
Abstract: Concepts and technologies provided herein can provide power efficient radio receiver control for user equipment that can connect to a wireless network. A user equipment executing instructions via a processor can confirm that a battery charge state of the user equipment indicates charged or charging, and can check a user interface state of the user equipment. The user equipment can have at least one radio receiver that is initially active to support communicative coupling with the access point via a primary component carrier radio link. Based on the user interface state and/or the battery charge state that indicates charged or charging, the user equipment can activate additional radio receivers that are available to support the primary component carrier radio link until an active receiver capacity for supporting the primary component carrier radio link is met.

  • Publication number: 20190159083
Abstract: A more efficient network can be achieved by leveraging an adaptive dejitter buffer. The dejitter buffer can be dynamically adjusted based off a network data analysis. A communication handover can be adjusted or shifted based on voice inactivity data related to a forecasted punctuation. The dejitter buffer memory/depth of a mobile device can also be adjusted in accordance with receiving a delay interruption length associated with another mobile device. Thereafter, the dejitter buffer memory can be filled with voice packet data to decrease a packet delay variation at the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20190159094
Abstract: Traffic associated with user equipment that are coupled to a first radio access network is steered to a second radio access network based on an adaptable signal strength criterion. The signal strength criterion is related to real-time network load conditions of the first radio access network and can be broadcasted from a serving access point to the user equipment. Moreover, the signal strength criterion facilitates steering, to the second radio network, traffic associated with user equipment that are located closer to a cell edge of the first radio access network before steering traffic associated with user equipment are located further away from the cell edge. In addition, based on the network congestion within the first radio access network, the signal strength criterion is modified to adjust the number of user equipment that are steered to the second radio network.

  • Patent number: 10224030
Abstract: In speech processing systems personalization is added in the Natural Language Understanding (NLU) processor by incorporating external knowledge sources of user information to improve entity recognition performance of the speech processing system. Personalization in the NLU is effected by incorporating one or more dictionaries of entries, or gazetteers, with information personal to a respective user, that provide the user's information to permit disambiguation of semantic interpretation for input utterances to improve quality of speech processing results.
