  • Patent number: 10200929
Abstract: Traffic associated with user equipment that are coupled to a first radio access network is steered to a second radio access network based on an adaptable signal strength criterion. The signal strength criterion is related to real-time network load conditions of the first radio access network and can be broadcasted from a serving access point to the user equipment. Moreover, the signal strength criterion facilitates steering, to the second radio network, traffic associated with user equipment that are located closer to a cell edge of the first radio access network before steering traffic associated with user equipment are located further away from the cell edge. In addition, based on the network congestion within the first radio access network, the signal strength criterion is modified to adjust the number of user equipment that are steered to the second radio network.

  • Patent number: 10117146
Abstract: A heterogeneous network comprising macro network devices and micro network devices operates to maintain a dynamic data set of neighbor relations for a potential transfer of a User Equipment (UE) device from one network zone to another network zone. In response to detecting a failure of a macro network device to establish a network connection with a network device, a dynamic management of the data set initiates. A capacity number of network connections is determined for the macro network device (e.g., macro eNB sector carrier) based on the data set of neighbor relations. A threshold number is determined from the network neighbor device data, representing the set of micro network devices with which the macro network device is operable to establish the network. A defined number of micro network devices is maintained that is less than the threshold number of the network neighbor device data.

  • Patent number: 10117126
Abstract: Fixed, differentiated quality of service (QoS) is supplied for packetized traffic (e.g., voice and data) intended for femto cell coverage when transmitted concurrently with external broadband traffic. Quality of Service differentiation is supplied without an external implementation. Femto cell coverage is prioritized over concurrent packetized traffic to deliver a rich user experience for delay and jitter sensitive applications. A passthrough configuration for a femto access point (AP) facilitates supplying hard QoS for data packet streams, or flows, intended for femto cell coverage or non-femto-cell coverage. The femto AP receives a consolidated packet stream through backhaul link(s) and distinguishes flow(s) for femto coverage and flow(s) for auxiliary broadband coverage. The femto AP routes the flow(s) intended for femto with hard QoS according to QoS policy which can be determined by a network operator or a subscriber.

  • Publication number: 20180262435
Abstract: A more robust and efficient flow of voice or other content packets can be achieved by leveraging an adaptive dejitter buffer. The dejitter buffer can be dynamically adjusted according to network conditions including handover. The dejitter buffer memory/depth can be adjusted in accordance with a delay interruption length associated with various handover types. Thereafter, the dejitter buffer memory can be filled with packet data to decrease a packet delay variation associated with handover.

  • Publication number: 20180262320
Abstract: A duplex frequency is supplemented by providing simplex frequencies and distributing a data load among them. A server initially communicates with a communications device using a duplex channel. A scheduler of the server determines when it is no longer optimal to use the single duplex channel, and distributes data among the duplex channel and the simplex channels. Before sending this data through multiple channels, the server first sends a schedule to the communications device to inform which bits of data are coming through which channels at which times. The scheduler compiles this schedule and sends it to the communications device through the duplex channel. A descheduler within the communications device receives the schedule and alerts the communications device to start receiving data on other simplex channels. The descheduler then puts the bits of data in order as they stream in across the duplex and simplex channels.

  • Publication number: 20180242166
Abstract: Compensation is provided for foreign interference within a cell. Uplink (UL) noise on an UL channel to a first base station (BS) device is detected. Whether the UL noise includes interference is determined. Interference can include any device other than a mobile device configured to communicate with a BS device associated with a cell. The first service area of the BS device can be modified, e.g., scaled based on determining that the UL noise includes interference. Scaling can include reducing the first service area to a second service area that does not include an imbalance region in the first service area caused by the foreign interference. Scaling can be effected by reducing the amount of downlink power from the first BS device, or by adjusting a re-selection parameter associated with reducing the range of the BS device.

  • Publication number: 20180199291
Abstract: Data bundling and fast dormancy controls are provided based on application monitoring and classification. Moreover, a balance is enabled between saving battery power of a user equipment (UE) and reducing signaling and processing load in a radio resource controller (RRC). For instance, a system can observe data flow related behavior of applications on the UE. On receiving a first data flow request, an arrival time of a next data flow request is predicted based on an analysis of the behavior, and the system determines whether the two data flows can be bundled together and transmitted over a single connection. Additionally, on completion of the first data flow, the arrival time of the next data flow request is predicted based on the analysis, and the system determines whether a fast dormancy timer can be disabled to transmit the next data flow over the current connection.
