  • Patent number: 11617210
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble configuration that indicates a first preamble format for a first PRACH preamble and a second preamble format for a second PRACH preamble, wherein the first preamble format is different from the second preamble format. The UE may transmit the first PRACH preamble as part of a random access procedure based at least in part on the PRACH preamble configuration, wherein transmitting the first PRACH preamble enables a determination of a symbol boundary offset. The UE may transmit the second PRACH preamble as part of the random access procedure based at least in part on the PRACH preamble configuration, wherein transmitting the second PRACH preamble enables a determination of a symbol timing offset. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Patent number: 11611981
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for reporting content processing times to a base station to allow the base station to efficiently schedule bi-directional communications one or more UEs. A content processing time may correspond to the time taken by a UE to process one or more downlink signals received in one or more downlink transmissions. In some examples, the UE may report a content processing time for each downlink transmission. In some examples, the UE may report one or more content processing times for multiple downlink transmissions. The base station may use the content processing times to configure an appropriate gap between downlink and uplink transmissions such that the UE may have sufficient time to process downlink signals before transmitting one or more uplink transmissions in response to the one or more downlink transmissions.

  • Patent number: 11611407
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a network may schedule a user equipment (UE) for multiple transmission/reception point (TRP) communication. The network may transmit a single downlink control information (DCI) message to the UE to dynamically configure multiple transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states for the multiple TRPs. In a first example, the DCI message may include a bit field indicating a set of antenna ports and the multi-TRP scheme for transmission. In a second example, the DCI message may include a separate field indicating the multi-TRP scheme (e.g., based on UE capabilities). In a third example, the DCI may indicate redundancy versions (RVs) for different TRPs in an RV field or across multiple fields. In a fourth example, the DCI may include an indication of a precoding resource block group (PRG) size that may be interpreted differently based on the indicated multi-TRP scheme.

  • Publication number: 20230084678
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a first radio resource control (RRC) configuration message that is associated with a first subband and that indicates a first set of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states for use on the first subband. The UE may further receive, from the base station, a second RRC configuration message that is associated with a second subband included in the wideband channel and that indicates a second set of TCI states for use on the second subband. As an alternative, the UE may receive, from the base station, an RRC configuration message that includes at least a first list of first TCI states associated with a first subband and a second list of second TCI states associated with a second subband. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Publication number: 20230085025
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for hierarchical communications and low latency support within a wireless communications system. An eNB and/or a UE may be configured to operate within the wireless communications system which is at least partially defined through a first layer with first layer transmissions having a first subframe type and a second layer with second layer transmissions having a second subframe type. The first subframe type may have a first round trip time (RTT) between transmission and acknowledgment of receipt of the transmission, and the second layer may have a second RTT that is less than the first RTT. Subframes of the first subframe type may be multiplexed with subframes of the second subframe type, such as through time division multiplexing. In some examples symbols of different duration may be multiplexed such that different symbol durations coexist.

  • Publication number: 20230085595
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Aspects of the disclosure describe narrow beam-based channel access that enables a device to communicate in a shared radio frequency spectrum band without performing channel access procedures. Specifically, aspects of the disclosure describe techniques for defining one or more directional beams as a narrow beam, where the relative narrowness of the beam may be determined in the context of interference (e.g., as opposed to being defined from a geometric perspective). For example, a particular beam may be determined to be a narrow beam, and therefore associated with communications in shared radio frequency spectrum bands without channel access procedures, based on one or more metrics and a number of spatial streams associated with the beam. A device may use such narrow beams for communications without channel access procedures in shared radio frequency spectrum bands.

  • Patent number: 11606797
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques may be used to identify when decoded downlink control information (DCI) is from a combined search space set (e.g., a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH)) candidate of a first search space set and a PDCCH candidate of a second search space set). A UE may receive DCI from a base station, identify PDCCH candidates from a first search space set, a second search space set, and a combined PDCCH candidate from the first and second search space set. The UE may decode the DCI and identify that the decoded DCI corresponds to the combined PDCCH candidate based on various characteristics. In accordance with identifying that the DCI is from a combined PDCCH candidate, the UE and base station may identify various communication channel characteristics such as PDSCH, PUSCH, and PUCCH scheduling information, or rate-matching information, among others.

  • Patent number: 11601244
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A control resource set (CORESET) may be configured to support multiple transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state control channels. Space division multiplexing (SDM) may be implemented to enable multi-TCI states by using multiple ports and layers. A certain layer and demodulation reference signal (DMRS) port may be associated with a certain TCI state. For orthogonal ports, resources elements (REs) may be assigned such that a first set of REs are assigned to the first DMRS port and a second set of REs are assigned to the second port. The multiple DMRS ports may be code division multiplexed (CDM'd) within an RE such that multiple DMRS ports may be associated with the same RE. For non-orthogonal ports, the same RE may be used for multiple TCI states, where scrambling sequences may be applied to DMRSs associated with the TCI states.

  • Patent number: 11588529
Abstract: Beam management enhancements for advanced millimeter wave (mmWave) operations are disclosed. As a part of channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration, a user equipment may include an interference plus noise measurement of beams for consideration in beam management.
