Patent number: 7827398Abstract: A method for offloading encryption and decryption of a message received at a message server to one or more end devices that are remote from the message server. An encrypting end device remote from the message server encrypts a message using cryptographic context and transmits the cryptographic context and encrypted message to the message server for storage at the message server. The message server stores the encrypted message as received without decrypting the message. The message server sends the stored cryptographic context and the encrypted message to a decrypting end device in response to the decrypting end device sending a request for the message server to transmit the encrypted message to the decrypting end device. The decrypting end device uses the cryptographic context to decrypt the encrypted message and then presents the decrypted message to a user of the decrypting end device.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2005Date of Patent: November 2, 2010Assignee: Hewlett-Packard CompanyInventors: Xiufen Liu, John Poplett, Arun Singh

Patent number: 7817830Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating an elongated object in a three dimensional data array are disclosed. A slice of data generally lengthways of the elongated object is selected. Points on the object in the selected slice are identified. Data including the points are transposed parallel to the slice and transversely to the elongated object to align the points in a direction parallel to the slice and transverse to the elongated object. A current slice is selected that is rotated around the length direction of the object relative to the previously selected slice. The identifying and transposing are repeated to align points on the object in a direction parallel to the current slice and transverse to the elongated object.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2006Date of Patent: October 19, 2010Assignee: Imaging Sciences International LLCInventors: Arun Singh, Edward Marandola, Omid Kia, Uwe Mundry

Patent number: 7460638Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating a panoramic image of part of a target, comprises providing a scanner having a source of penetrating radiation facing a detector having an array of sensors for the penetrating radiation. The target is positioned between the source of penetrating radiation and the detector, and scanned with relative rotation of the scanner and the target. Radiation received at a plurality of the sensors spaced apart in the circumferential direction of the relative rotation is separately recorded. A panoramic image is generated by combining for each pixel of the panoramic image outputs from different sensors at different times during the relative rotation, the combined outputs being selected to represent rays of radiation passing through a point on a defined curve. The generated panoramic image and a graphical representation of the defined curve are displayed. Instructions are received from a user to alter the defined curve.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2006Date of Patent: December 2, 2008Assignee: Imaging Sciences International LLCInventors: Arun Singh, Omid Kia

Publication number: 20070086560Abstract: In one embodiment of a method of and apparatus for correcting for scatter, an object, which may be the jaw of a dental patient, is subjected to x-rays or other penetrating radiation. An intensity distribution of the transmitted radiation is detected. A first array of voxel data representing the absorption of the radiation by the object is reconstructed from the detected intensity. A radiation scatter pattern is calculated by forward projection from the first array using one or more point spread functions. The detected intensity is corrected using the calculated radiation scatter pattern. A second array of voxel data representing the absorption of the radiation by the object is reconstructed from the corrected detected intensity.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2006Publication date: April 19, 2007Applicant: IMAGING SCIENCES INTERNATIONAL, INC.Inventors: Omid Kia, Arun Singh, Edward Marandola, Uwe Mundry

Publication number: 20060085492Abstract: This invention pertains to simplifying the modification of a process flow implemented by computer software. That is, an order of presentation of sets of data, which may be web pages, is defined in one repository so that any changes that need to be made to the order may be made in the one location, instead of having to make the change in multiple locations. The one repository, therefore, acts as a navigation repository that stores, in one location, the navigation information needed to advance from one set of data to another.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2004Publication date: April 20, 2006Inventors: Arun Singh, Gary Grewal
