  • Publication number: 20200241909
Abstract: Techniques for determining host computing systems to deploy virtual machines based on disk specifications are disclosed. In one example, a blueprint to deploy a virtual machine in a cloud computing environment may be received. Further, disk specifications required to deploy the virtual machine may be retrieved from the blueprint. Furthermore, candidate storage entities that support the retrieved disk specifications may be determined. A host computing system that has connectivity to the candidate storage entities may be determined. the determined host computing system may be recommended to deploy the virtual machine.

  • Publication number: 20200242492
Abstract: Embodiments herein use transfer learning paradigms to facilitate classification across entities without requiring the entities access to the other party's sensitive data. In one or more embodiments, one entity may train a model using its own data (which may include at least some non-shared data) and shares either the scores (or an intermediate representation of the scores). One or more other parties may use the scores as a feature in its own model. The scores may be considered to act as an embedding of the features but do not reveal the features. In other embodiments, parties may be used to train part of a model or participate in generating one or more nodes of a decision tree without revealing all its features. The trained models or decision trees may then be used for classifying unlabeled events or items.

  • Publication number: 20200242119
Abstract: A relational database system for performing a join operation between a first table and a second table may include a query analyzer and an optimization engine. The query analyzer may compare predicates of a join operation query for an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) compliant database. The optimization engine, based upon comparison of the predicates, is to bypass a scan of the second table as part of outputting semantically correct results for the join operation.

  • Publication number: 20200245243
Abstract: Examples described herein include systems and methods for reducing power consumption among multiple user devices that are communicatively coupled to a management server. The management server can receive an indication that a first user device (a laptop computer, for example) is in an active state and that a first application (an email application or a web browser, for example), is executing at the laptop computer. The management server determines that a second user device (a smartphone, for example) is associated with the same user and further determines that a second application is installed on the smartphone. The management server can determine that the smartphone is in an inactive state or that the second application is currently not executing on the smartphone. The management server sends an instruction to the smartphone to turn off at least one functionality so as to reduce power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20200242147
Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for improving search engine ranking of a landing page using automated analysis of landing pages of third-party entities. Certain embodiments include receiving, at a user interface, a primary keyword associated with a targeted landing page of a primary entity; transmitting the primary keyword to a search engine; and receiving a search engine results page from the search engine. The search engine results page may be used to identify landing pages of third-party entities having a higher rank than the targeted landing page. Secondary keywords occurring on the third-party landing pages may be identified and analyzed to determine whether inclusion of the secondary keyword in the targeted landing page will increase ranking of the targeted landing page in the search engine.

  • Publication number: 20200238341
Abstract: A pre-loaded cleaning substrate, and related systems and methods for picking up particles with an aspect ratio (L/D) greater than 300 (e.g., hair), or greater than 1200 (e.g., particularly long hairs). The substrate (e.g., a nonwoven) may include only a single layer of material. The pre-loaded substrate is loaded (e.g., during manufacture) with a cleaning composition. The fibers of the substrate may have an average diameter less than 15 ?m, the substrate may have an air permeability of 35 ft3/min to 75 ft3/min, and the liquid cleaning composition may have a surface tension of less than about 50 dynes/cm. Together, the combination of the particular substrate and cleaning composition may facilitate markedly improved ability to pick up high L/D aspect ratio particle debris (e.g., such as hair), while retaining such particles (e.g., providing hair retention index values of at least 20).

  • Publication number: 20200243141
Abstract: Techniques are provided for optimizing a program operation in a memory device to compensate for program speed variations due to block oxide thinning. In one approach, during a program operation, a program voltage which indicates program speed is acquired from sub-blocks with the highest and lowest program speeds. An initial program voltage for intermediate sub-blocks can be determined based on the acquired program voltages and the positions of the intermediate sub-blocks. The technique can accommodate a loss of one or both acquired program voltages if the programming is interrupted. In another approach, a program voltage which indicates program speed is acquired from one sub-block, and for a later-programmed sub-block, an appropriate offset is located from a table and summed with the acquired program voltage to determine an optimum initial program voltage.

  • Patent number: 10726175
Abstract: A memory optimization method includes identifying, within a circuit design, a memory having an arithmetic operator at an output side and/or an input side of the memory. The memory may include a read-only memory (ROM). In some examples, an input of the arithmetic operator includes a constant value. In some embodiments, the memory optimization method further includes absorbing a function of the arithmetic operator into the memory. By way of example, the absorbing the function includes modifying contents of the memory based on the function of the arithmetic operator to provide an updated memory and removing the arithmetic operator from the circuit design.

  • Publication number: 20200233694
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to techniques for improving startup times of a cloud-based virtual servers in response to a spike in service usage (although other applications are contemplated and described). According to some embodiments, in response to a request to provision a new virtual server in a cluster, high-priority services (e.g., those that enable the server to respond to system health checks or that support an application providing the service) are started while lower-priority services are delayed. In some embodiments, prior to receiving such a request, a new server may be started and then hibernated to create a “hot spare.” When the request is received, the hot spare may be taken out of hibernation to quickly bring the hot spare online. It is contemplated that the delayed-startup and hot spare embodiments may be used together to further improve performance.
