  • Patent number: 6920979
Abstract: A tape dispenser and a hang tag for use therewith are disclosed. The tape dispenser includes a front and back that are joined together to form a housing that holds a roll of adhesive tape. A hang tag is provided to attach the tape dispenser to a display board. The hang tag is secured within the housing and it includes a tab section and a lower section. The lower section has the same shape as the housing and it is secured within the housing. The tab is connected to the lower section and extends from the upper surface of the housing. The tab includes an aperture for receiving a hook for hanging the tape dispenser onto a display board. The tab also includes perforations for allowing the tab to be separated from the lower section after purchase of the tape dispenser. The tab is substantially smaller than the lower section or the housing thereby reducing the overall size of the product to be either transported or displayed.

  • Publication number: 20050153704
Abstract: Non-uniform spatial offered loads are estimated for a plurality of bins corresponding to a cellular wireless territory served by Base Station Transceivers (BTS's). Using mean and standard deviation of signal strengths received at each of the bins from each of the BTS's, probabilities are computed for each bin that each of the BTS's will serve the bin. Using the computed probabilities and an estimated offered load for each BTS, which load is derived from carried load and call lost measurements at the BTS, a resource constraint is then expressed for each BTS in terms of the bin offered load estimates. Next, using an approximation of relative demand for wireless services across all bins, based, for example, on demographic data, a performance function is expressed for each bin in terms of the bin's estimated offered load. Using the performance functions, a lexographic minimax objective function is defined, which is then coupled with the resource constraints to express an equitable resource allocation model.

  • Publication number: 20050153497
Abstract: In accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the invention, a substrate of a first conductivity type silicon is provided. A substrate cap region of the first conductivity type silicon is formed such that a junction is formed between the substrate cap region and the substrate. A body region of a second conductivity type silicon is formed such that a junction is formed between the body region and the substrate cap region. A trench extending through at least the body region is then formed. A source region of the first conductivity type is then formed in an upper portion of the body region. An out-diffusion region of the first conductivity type is formed in a lower portion of the body region as a result of one or more temperature cycles such that a spacing between the source region and the out-diffusion region defines a channel length of the field effect transistor.

  • Publication number: 20050146881
Abstract: An optical product comprised of an optical film and a protective cover has a cover removal tab attached along one edge. The cover removal tab allows the protective cover to be easily and efficiently removed from the optical film. In addition, there is no imprint of the cover removal tab on the optical film when multiple optical products are stacked or rolled up for storage, the protective cover remains the same size as the optical film, adding the cover removal tab to the optical product only requires a one punch-head converting machine, and there is minimal waste of material and time to add the cover removal tab.

  • Publication number: 20050145018
Abstract: A wireless sensor system is installed inside pipelines using sensors and wireless transceivers that are small, low-cost, and rugged. The objective is monitoring the pipeline and recommending maintenance and repair at specific locations in the pipeline. Maintenance includes detection of leaks and prevention of catastrophic failures as a result of internal corrosion or other damage, such as third party mechanical damage, using multitude of sensors. After establishing the wireless sensor network the network is activated so the sensor can make measurements periodically or continuously using instructions transmitted via the base station. The sensor data from the various sensors are transmitted inside the pipe and extracted to access points in the pipeline to a remote computer that stores the data within the computer memory. The sensed information can be used for monitoring as well as analysis using a recommendation engine to provide maintenance and repair alerts.
